I heard something about that also but not what is going to change, sabres have so many draft picks..

they could have 3 first round picks this year their own, the Islanders 1st (islanders can defer to 2015 if they end up with a top 10 pick this year)
and a conditional 1st from St Louis

3 second round picks which are the Wild, Jets and their own

and that's on top of a pretty impressive prospect pool they have already :notbad:

found it. 30 Thoughts: Changing odds in NHL draft lottery | Hockey | CBC Sports

basically all 30 teams in lottery draft. worst team could end up picking 6th overall at worst.

I feel like this is more the NHL is looking ahead to 2015 draft to help prevent a bunch of teams from a race to the bottom for McDavid

tonyzoomzoom 03-18-2014 09:34 PM

Not unlike how Sid ended up in Pittsburg, Bettman will make sure that McDavid will go to a team of his choosing

Impressive by the numbers. But in reality, I recall reading 1st round picks (or top 10 picks?) have a 30% chance of developing into NHL regulars (not even 'star' calibre players, just regular roster players). After that, the percentages drop off sharply.

yeah that is true but sometimes you can get lucky and pull some late round picks who actually turn into something

Either way with all those picks they should be able to pick up a few good players for the future even if all of them don't pan out

Panthers get a much needed second liner, top pairing Dman, and a first round pick

Canucks finally get that allstar goaltender

pastarocket 03-19-2014 08:40 AM

More bad news. Tanev is out for the season. This team has such bad luck. One of their better defencemen gets hurt while lousy Edler still gets to play.

#Canucks: Hearing that D-man Chris Tanev likely done for the season with hand injury from Monday's game in TB.
