-by all accounts he wasn't owning anything down in Utica the 2 games he was there. Ppl are saying send him down, let him own the competition and regain his confidence. Kind of hard to do that when your compete isn't even there in the AHL. -some discussion about owners wanting to keep him up for promotional reasons -his psyche sounds a bit fragile to me at times. What do you do if he can't find his game in the AHL even? -WD is still on a mandate to win vs develop the kids, so until the kids earn his trust, they won't be getting many big minutes. Stecher and Tryamkin look like they are on their way, which is a very small glimmer of hope So maybe, a very hopeful maybe, this management team know more about this kid and situation than those in the general public. Everything always seems simple on the surface. |
You need to understand that there is a balance between playing these young kids, who are liabilities on the ice, and putting out veterans who are going to make the right decision most of the time. There's a power struggle here where the Canucks brass wants to tank for the prospects, whereas Canucks ownership wants to sell tickets. You don't sell tickets by fielding an AHL team, which is what we are. Seriously, take out the Sedins, Burrows, Edler, Eriksson, Tanev and Miller, and we're the Utica Comets! Yes, you have to give these kids ice time. But that is going to cost you, as many of their mistakes will cost them scoring chances and goals. Learning takes time, which is why the Blackhawks sucked for years until Kane and Toews grew up, and why the Lightning just can't seem to win a cup. |

Speaking of Virtanen Confirmed today that he will not be playing against NYR. |
Boggles the mind. If I was Boeser, I just wait out free agency. |

Spoiler! "Will Arizona take Stecher and Boeser for Datsyuk and Pronger? ...Should I add draft picks on top to make it a better deal?" |
I don't like how WD calls out JV, and benches him. It might work for some kids but I don't think it works with Jake. Let him develop his game. If you want to bench someone bench Erickson. He gets paid how much to score? |

Can already seeing JV asking for a trade if not already now. |
remember when we had a respectable organization that had shitty scouts but at least knew what they were doing? |
Insider Trading: Canucks still keeping tabs on Evander Kane's availability Insider Trading: Canucks still keeping tabs on Evander Kane's availability - Video - TSN Wouldn't be surprised to see Virtanen traded for Kane. |
rumour is the Sabres want a Dman in return We need Kane as a role model for Virtanen. Then sign Mike Richards. Kane-Richards-Virtanen best "line" in hockey |

I won't take credit for it because 1040 brought it up first, but would you trade Tanev for Kane (straight up)? Note that their other points were: 1. They're similar in age (Tanev 26, Kane 25) 2. Stecher 3. Canucks rebuilding anyways so losing Tanev for potential in Kane can't go anywhere but up. Maybe sideways 4. No Big Buff to throw his Canuck tracksuit in the shower (but there is Tryamkin) Ok the last one was me. But would you? As I think about it more, I think I would. Team chemistry be damned. |
I would trade Tanev in a second for Kane no questions asked. |
