wont be trading picks is a plus! not trading away vets with NTC to get younger and pick up picks bad!

Greedy Russians like Kovy are gonna want a huge amount of money to play in the NHL again.

His contract with his KHL team is 6 million US per year.

I don't think Aquaman is willing to pay for a big contract for Kovy even if it's just a one year deal. :suspicious:

Expresso 12-09-2016 02:05 PM

^Can't tell if srs...

6o4__boi 12-09-2016 02:13 PM

if they can afford Loui at $6M for 6 years I highly doubt they'll hesitate on Kovy for $6M at 1 year.

dbaz 12-09-2016 02:23 PM

I'm more interested in the next two offseason and trade deadlines than the season tbh, expansion too. Lots of older, and bigger contracts coming off. Will they be idiots and re-sign miller for 6mil and burrows for 3mil+ or low ball their asses for another year in Van? Also if Sedins come back cheap. Actually trade some of the upcoming ufa's for prospects/picks?

Team should have some more decent prospects/young players by then. Boeser, Horvat, Hutton, Stetcher, Juuolevi, Demko Top 5 pick this year, prob top 5 in 2018 too. Subban, Virtanen, Tryamkin, Baer, Lockwood, Brisebois and Gaudette as some wild cards.

LSF22 12-09-2016 02:24 PM

kovy = radulov 2.0?

Mike Oxbig 12-09-2016 02:25 PM

Kovy will be the bridge for entertaining hockey until sedan retires

Unless sedins get traded to the sharks

Nabatron 12-09-2016 04:03 PM

^isn't Kovy pretty much same age as the sedins plus has a shit back?

Just a few years younger...
Yeah, still pretty old.

Eastwood 12-09-2016 05:15 PM

I thought every team in the league has to agree to let Kovy play before he can sign a contract with the NHL.

New Jersey damn sure ain't letting him come back.

Tim Budong 12-09-2016 05:23 PM

Kovy will not be Radulov2.0

if you are alluding to NJ being pissed that he left, they were actually very happy. I dont think they were very happy with that fat contract they signed with him

No he's right, as per hockey news:

"However, in order to come back to the NHL in two seasons time, Kovalchuk would need to receive the green light from all 30 NHL teams because he voluntarily retired. If he wishes to come back to the league without needing league-wide approval, Kovalchuk would have to wait until 2018-19, when he would be 35."

Another way is for him to sit out an entire year of professional hockey and then be 35 and he doesn't need permission from any teams if he does that.

New Jersey needed to get his contract off the books to sell the team. New owners didn't want the liability especially since it was an uninsured contract; team was sold the following month.

How many shutouts does Luigi have this year?

MG1 12-10-2016 05:24 PM

MG1 12-10-2016 05:32 PM

Woo Hoo!!!!

How Swede it is...........

Was 0-3, now within one of tying it up.

pastarocket 12-10-2016 06:20 PM

This team's weak sauce power play is costing wins. They had PP chances in the second period but could not put the puck past Lu.

No finish at all!

Yeah, thats exactly what this team needs. A soon-to-be 34 yr old player with known work ethic issues. The guy is a bonafide sniper, but the last thing this team needs is another older player who is not gonna be a building block for the future. Moreover, his lack of commitment is a bad example to younger players who need a proper example set for them.

If the Canucks were on an up and coming team with a need to shore up some offence to perhaps add some depth come playoffs, then I would say a short term deal would be worth the risk. However, given the current situation of the Canucks there's no need for such a signing.

Sounds like Vrbata who mailed it in during his UFA season :lol
