Well, if that is the case, then either trade him or send him to the Marlies and pray no one picks him up off waivers.
Babcock isn't doing anyone any favors by permanently sitting him in the press box most of the season.

We basically had the same argument over the way WD utilized JV a month ago.

i guess this can go into grinds my gears too

I still honestly fail to see the hype around McDavid. Yeah, he's a good player, he can be a game-changer but nowhere near the players people tend to mention him with. Like all those stupid articles that go "Is McDavid better than Crosby already?"
Hell fucking no. I'm not a Crosby fan but McDavid is nowhere near Crosby was in his first couple of seasons. I seriously doubt he can even put up a 120 season in the next two years. Is he a 100 pt player? Possibly, but people in the media act like he's had 5 100 point season in the NHL.
He's nowhere near Sidney Crosby. Guy shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath until he's actually done something remarkable. Crosby missed the beginning of the season and is more than a pp/g player. Hell, he's almost a goal/game player. Don't get me wrong, McDavid is a once in a generation player but kid is undeserving of all this hype.

Nabatron 12-16-2016 08:43 AM

^media has a boner for him for his dangles and speed but it only takes one dick head like Brandon manning to fuck up his career!

ya but that could be said for crosby or any other player.

the kid is good, no doubt about it.

highfive 12-16-2016 09:29 AM

McDavid is first in scoring. Not up to crosby level but he's at crosby pace IMO.

That's why they gave Lucic a shit load of money to protect mcdavid from manning.

SumAznGuy 12-16-2016 09:58 AM

Tanev will play tonight.
Miller starts.
Looks like Guddy will not play. Not sure if scratch or health reasons.

6o4__boi 12-16-2016 10:04 AM

undisclosed injury for Gudbranson

Whether or not you believe the hype surrounding McJesus is up to you. The fact is that he is currently on pace for approx 99 pts this season, which could be higher depending on if he strings together several multi-pts games. I think its POSSIBLE for him to hit 120 this season. Furthermore, its VERY POSSIBLE for him to hit 120+ in the next two years (barring any injuries). You'd be a fool to think that he couldn't hit 120 over the course of the next two seasons!

I will give you this though, until he wins a cup, his body of work will not be comparable to Sid's.

6o4__boi 12-16-2016 10:22 AM

meh, he still hasn't done enough to warrant being mentioned as an elite player imo.

He's on pace for vs he's put up are two different things. Just cus he's on pace for 99 points doesn't mean he'll put up 99 points. He could string together several multi-pt games. Or he could hit a snag. He does play for the coilers after all.

I'd be willing to wager you a six pack he won't have 120 point season in the next two years, this year excluded. (or included, up to you.)

Nabatron 12-16-2016 10:40 AM

gotta up that trade value for tanev!

Jmac 12-16-2016 10:47 AM

Production tends to drop off as the season progresses with younger players.

The media's been dying for a superstar in the Canadian market. Last time any player from a Canadian market got 100+ points was Hank and Dank in 2010 & 2011. But since the twins or the Canucks rarely gets respect for anything, you'll need to go as far back as 2006 when Dany Heatley got 104pts.

Canadian born player, in a Canadian market. The media's finally got the perfect combination of things they want to harp about. Just too bad it's Edmonton. :lawl:

highfive 12-16-2016 11:29 AM

Mcdavid vs Matthews will be the headlines for the next 10 years. The next Crosby vs Ovie.

For the Canucks. It'll be Patrick vs mcdavid lol

wrist/hand injury. hes been seeing a hand specialist for a couple weeks now. same with granlund

Gumby 12-16-2016 01:33 PM

Well, something to look forward to tonight - an appearance by Matthias Ohlund. :)

6o4__boi 12-16-2016 01:48 PM

he played a huge role in helping develop Edler

I remember watching Edler when he was first called up and thinking this guy is a hopeless plug. But after some games under Ohlund he became a pretty solid blue liner.

lilaznviper 12-16-2016 02:54 PM

bought tickets for tonights game just for ohlund. it would be good to see him again. might buy one of the old school ohlund jersey's at the team store.

The front crest looks TERRIBLE. The top fin and the bottom part of the 'C' is not supposed to taper like that. Looks almost like a fake.

I disagree. I think you're forgetting the fact that McDavid is still only 19! Nineteen! Still a teenager. He's leading the league in scoring as a 19 year old. That to you isn't "something remarkable"? McDavid will still get better. Also Crosby has better teammates like Malkin. Sure they don't play on the same line but having better teammates will get your team more PP's so more opportunities to score and it means Crosby doesn't have to face the top D pairing all night long. It's hard to compare 2 players who are 10 years apart even tho they're both currently active but the league was higher scoring back when Crosby had 120 points.

MG1 12-16-2016 06:13 PM

Nice........ a couple of cuties singing the star mangled banner. Not bad....... slightly out of tune, but a capella in a stadium is hard. Okay, they kind of went off the rails a bit with our anthem, but hey........... they is cute.

sisters?

trancehead 12-16-2016 06:14 PM

Mcdavid's speed is remarkable. Also he is a bit taller hence has more range. that is something Crosby cannot compete on so this may elevate his potential cap even higher than Crosby.

The sad thing is (sad because fuck Edmonton), if EDM can build their D core correctly (perhaps if they overpay AGAIN for a warhorse defenseman) they could be the next PITS or LAK or CHI

Its promsing and fun. The media needs to stir shit up about something. Could be worse :)

MG1 12-16-2016 06:17 PM

Not another freakin' challenge.................

MG1 12-16-2016 06:19 PM

Oh well............ it was offside, but damn.
