604dragon 03-05-2017 06:25 PM

With the back-to-back wins, Canucks drop from 4th overall to 8th overall ...

Fucking Canucks are the dumbest organization ever. Why can't they get their heads out of their asses, check their damn ego, and just embrace the rebuild like Toronto? Fuck

dbaz 03-05-2017 08:21 PM

demko 5 game win streak. 1.20 GAA, .961 SV% and a shutout over it, including 3 wins over the weekend.

Perhaps that meddling owner Aquaman told WD that he wants two playoff games worth of extra revenue. :troll:

Jmac 03-05-2017 09:39 PM

If EA is correct, the Canucks will lose every game for the rest of the season.

Of course, anyone who knows EA's games knows they're correct about as often as Eklund is (*cough* Boston-LA final prediction in 14-15, both teams missed the playoffs)

dbaz 03-05-2017 09:41 PM

^ so theyre making the playoffs. 6pts back guys

Nabatron 03-05-2017 11:46 PM

noway they make the playoffs even if they tied for the wild card the lose all the tie breakers lol

AzNightmare 03-06-2017 03:09 AM

After looking at all these tall goalies in modern era hockey, it's weird watching Bachman play... He looks so short. Well, he is very short for a goalie. 5'-10"

6o4__boi 03-06-2017 07:53 AM

lol winning streak just in time for the draft lottery

peak Canucks

m3thods 03-06-2017 09:32 AM

Just putting this out there-

For what's generally regarded as a "weak" draft especially compared to the last two, is there no value in having the young guys learn and establish a feeling of what it takes to win at the expense of picking a bit lower in the top 10?

I understand Team Tank's penchant for wanting to lose the rest of the season to get as close to Nolan Patrick as possible. But that's what Edmonton looked toward every February/March for the better part of a decade, and only due to a bit of luck are they finally out of it. For those that want to reference Chicago- it was not until Toews took that team by the nuts that they established a culture of winning. And for Toronto let's face it- they have a better draft record lately compared to the Canucks AND they landed the prize in the last top-heavy draft.

Willie is an idiot- there's no doubt about that. But he's still getting wins which will help the players who will eventually inherit this tire fire of a team learn what it takes to win in this league. That to me is more valuable than a marginally better pick in this year's draft because let's face it- the Canucks are not winning that draft lottery.

Do the canucks draft a Center or Defenseman?

Timothy Liljegren probably is the safest bet outside of the top 3 if he doesnt go 3rd

Liquid_o2 03-06-2017 11:19 AM

If we are picking 3 to 5, I would take Gabriel Vilardi. Seems like he is from the Bo Horvat mold. Can't have enough of that. If the Canucks draft higher, I would be ok with Valimaki. He has transitioned really well to the North American game, having a really strong year in the WHL. This draft is really a crapshoot, hard to say who is going to go where after the first few picks.

Valmaki and Juolevi patrolling the backline for the Canucks for years to come could be fun to watch :D

murd0c 03-06-2017 11:32 AM

The most important thing we need right now is a center, that should be the Canucks main focus right now

quasi 03-06-2017 11:35 AM

Whatever they feel there biggest need is they should draft the best player at that position. They don't want to do what the Oilers did for so long and that's draft the best player available regardless of need, it slowed down there rebuild so much.

highfive 03-06-2017 12:58 PM

Didn't oilers drafted bpa? They needed defence and chose Yakupov over Murray.

Looks like a good year to draft a first line centre imo.

Liquid_o2 03-06-2017 01:17 PM

The thing is, 7 of 9 scouts in the Oilers organization chose Murray over Yakupov but Kevin Lowe and Tamebellini over-ruled the scouts and chose Yakupov #1 overall.

Goes to show that you should trust the people you pay to do their jobs.

Jmac 03-06-2017 04:01 PM

Yakupov was coming along nicely under Ralph Krueger. Then the Oilers "brain"trust shitcanned Krueger after one lockout-shortened season (in which the Oilers had their best record over the past 4 years) to hire Eakins, who absolutely destroyed Yakupov's development.

Eakins also nearly destroyed Dubnyk's career as well. Dubnyk put up a 91.6%, 91.4%, and 92.0% prior to Eakins taking over (average to slightly above average numbers on a very weak Oilers team) to 89.1% under Eakins. He was so bad by the time they traded him, Nashville and Montreal wouldn't even use him when Rinne and Price were injured.

Murray's development hasn't been anything to write home about either, but that's mainly due to injuries.
