BURROWS IS A MONSTER!!!!!!

As for the chick singing the anthem, she sounds like a little girl. Not sure what it is, but some of her notes are just out of tune by such a tiny amount. Can't explain it any other way. Singing a cappella in an arena is never easy........... anyway.

Naslund was my favorite player for 6-7 years. He never led us anywhere though. He has moments of greatness and was probably one of the top goal scorers of his time in those 2-3 years. He lacked the heart though and towards the end was a shell of his former self. Missing the puck on the shootout is my everlasting memory of him.

Smyl is nostalgia.

Burrows scored bigger goals and had some of the most heart this franchise has ever seen he led more "by example" than Naslund ever did which he was so often referred to doing

Kilinim 03-02-2017 07:52 PM

Another first career goal, against us of course. Looked like it might have been offside too. No challenge :/

^They can do whatever the hell they want.......... their team is like a thousand times better than ours........

On a side note, I feel good about Burrows' situation. Moved from loser team to one that is going to the playoffs. Closer to his parents......... did you see how happy he looked?

PiuYi 03-02-2017 09:53 PM

pretty impressed we had a 6 game winning streak in SJ up till tonight

I hope I'm wrong, but it feels like a long dark era coming. I've been following the Canucks a long time and I have never been so unexcited about the future.

Even when we lost Bure we saw potential in 30/40 goal Naslund coming to save us; hell, Adrian Aucoin scored 23 goals that year. That was somewhat exciting even if all we had was hope.

As WCE wavered, the Sedins were starting to hit 70 pts, we knew they were the future plus Luongo just arrived.

But now, as the Sedins age and the 2011 team gone, the lack of succession makes me sad. Bo can't do it himself.

We've been spoiled for the last 15 years, Canucks had played some exciting hockey, I think we almost got used to being in the playoffs for a while that we took it for granted and had no plan for the future. Alas, I will still follow every game of the Canucks, and hopefully I am proven wrong.

Haven't followed old school hockey so I don't have as much nostalgia as most of the guys here. But there's always a chapter in things. There was the aforementioned Bure era, Naslund/Linden era and now the Sedin era is coming to an end. It's sad as fuck, but good things sometimes come to an end. Change must happen.

Our team trended downwards for so long that for me it's more painful to keep going down that spiral rather than to do a rebuild and trade our veterans and get some fresh blood in the system.

I don't believe that a dark era is coming. In fact, I'm enthused that this movement is taking place right here and now. The Veterans are teaching the young guys how to be professional and take the pressure off them for now. That slow transition will be great we'll see the fruits of our labour in a few years' time. We might not make it into the playoffs for a bit, but we'll have a great chance in the long term 5-10 years. It's an investment. We're buying low, and letting their value build and then we'll be set when it's true value is realized.

I'd like to add that everyone is clamoring for Horvat as our next superstar. I like him, he's awesome. He won't be like McJesus or Crosby, and it would be great if the Canucks draft a franchise player like that. But knowing our luck we won't. However, I rather see the Canucks have an overall solid team with great players, amazing teamwork, and exceptional chemistry. Like the 2014 German FIFA team. No individual superstar players like Messi or Ronaldo. Just damn good teamwork. And I'd be stoked for that.

Those are tears of a man that should've never left Montreal. You can tell just how much he loved that city and the fans and it's a shame that their fucking GM and coach turned their back on him

agreed for the most part

The Germans were well-coached and completely bought into their system. This while having a coach that literally picks his ass and sniffs it. All jokes aside Low is one of the best national managers out there. Neuer was also one of, if not, the best keeper in the world at the time. Schweinsteiger was a year removed from being the German player of the year. Ozil, Mueller and Klose are superstars in their own right, not on the same level as Ronaldo/Messi, but superstars nonetheless.

So...yeah. Willie is about as far away as you can get from Low. Guy has no system, no one buying into his shit. If we can start next season with a new coach, I'd be a happy guy. Fuck this goof who can't coach worth a shit.

hi-revs 03-03-2017 09:07 AM

As big of a canucks fan as I am, I'm missing the team we had since the 2011 season. Not only was that our best chance of winning... everyone on that roster were part of the community. They cared about the fans. Playing the sport was part of it. But the whole community part was a huge plus.
I hope that our current young players and prospects will be able to live up to what the sedins brought to our city back in the days.
Currently, I'm not seeing much character from many of the players. It's like they're just there at the rink to play the game. There's no heart. Aside from glimpses from Bo. Sedins won't be the same without Burr and Hansen.
Gonna be a few long seasons of player development before we have any heart on the team that's really worth cheering for.

While I agree with you for the most part, the team's play for the most part this season does not line up with a team that has tuned out the coach. Willie is not Babcock, but the team hasn't thrown him under the bus yet. The problem now is that the team does not have enough NHL talent to compete on a nightly basis. Guys that we like to rag on like Biega, Megna and Chaput are fine if they're the only one on a decent NHL roster. Vancouver has 3 of them, indicating that there is a severe lack of talent. Add to that the general trending towards using younger players on this team and the recent trade deadline, and it's a double-whammy recipe for implosion.

We'll see at the end of the year whether the team changes it's mind and chooses to play Willie out of town. But from what I've seen for the most part this season, Willie has gotten this team to play as hard as they can.

6o4__boi 03-03-2017 11:08 AM

All I've seen this year from Willie is a complete lack of comprehension with games.

A Sedin led team will never throw their coach under the bus. It's just not in their character. I'm not gonna bother trying to find the articles but there have been times this season where Hank and Danny have openly questioned Willie's player deployment, particularly on the PP. Willie's body of work the past couple of seasons speak for itself. Lazy, non-existent system and the penchant to make excuses to play the same players/strategy over and over again. "I don't know these players." Fuck you Willie, eat a bag of fucking dicks and fuck right off with your horse shit. How are you ever gonna know them playing them 5 fucking minutes a night.

Vancouver has enough talent to compete imo. I've said it before, we've got an idiot coach who couldn't tell you what temperature a dead body sitting in morgue for 2 days is let alone be able to tell you the temperature of his team and which players aren't clicking. This moron only has his go-to strategies that are clear as hell not working. Ie. Last night he sits Boucher for most of the third period. Why? Other nights it's the failure to identify that certain players just can't be playing as much they should. READ: JAYSON FUCKING MEGNA.

I can't watch another year of Willie on the bench. It's goddamned impossible for me. This guy is just a complete fucking moron in my eyes.

pastarocket 03-03-2017 01:00 PM

As I much as I want to see the Canucks make a coaching change, I just don't see Aquaman agreeing with Dim Jim to potentially decide to fire Willie before the last year of the coach's contract.

Berry picker is all about the money. This boss is not gonna want to pay out the remaining year on a contract for another coach fired by management before the expiration of the deal.

Paying out Torts contract was done early into the duration of that deal. Aquaman better be selling much more blueberries and condos to pay out WD if the coach gets fired soon. LUL

Canucks Sign Forward Zack MacEwen to Three Year ELC

Quote:

Vancouver, B.C. - Vancouver Canucks General Manager Jim Benning announced today that the Canucks have signed forward Zack MacEwen to a three-year entry-level contract.

"Zack is a physical two-way forward who plays in the tough areas and competes with a high intensity every night," said General Manager Jim Benning. "He has good hands especially for a player of his size; combined with an ability to deliver hard checks and stick up for his teammates, Zack is a difficult player to match up against. We're excited to have him join our organization."

MacEwen, 20, ranks second on the Gatineau Olympiques in goals (27), assists (35), points (62) and penalty minutes (81). His 12 power-play goals and 222 shots on the season currently lead the team. In his first full season in the QMJHL in 2015.16, the 6-4, 212-pound forward collected 10 goals and 30 assists (10-30-40) in 66 games for the Moncton Wildcats. He also added eight points (4-4-8) in 17 playoff games for the Wildcats.

Prior to playing in the QMJHL, the Charlottetown, PEI, native spent two seasons with the Amherst Ramblers of the MHL, collecting 66 points (38-28-66) and 138 penalty minutes in 96 regular season games.
