So sad seeing Jmac's list of the top 60 players from Canada and not a single one of them play on the Canucks. Also, not sure how but you left McDavid off Team Eastern Canada.

Hondaracer 09-26-2016 06:07 PM

If it got down to east vs west Canada that would be such a joke of a tournament :/

Sam Gagner with a filthy goal

Perhaps... But I would be so hyped for it, and I'm sure many others too.

If I have to be completely honest, Canada completely dominating is starting to get boring. Like did anyone here honestly even thought Canada wouldn't win this tournament? Same goes for Olympics?

The only thing interesting about this competition was the fact maybe Team NA would have been able to play against Canada, but too bad that didn't happen.

It was really more to demonstrate the amount of depth Eastern Canada would have relative to Western Canada, especially at forward (guys like McDavid, Duchene, MacKinnon, etc. didn't crack the top 18 amongst Eastern Canadian forwards last season and they'd likely be strong contenders for spots).

Western Canada is clearly superior when it comes to goaltending and is probably about even on the blueline.

6o4__boi 09-27-2016 07:40 AM

lol that western Canada team is grit that would make Torts proud

Some PJSalt for your morning coffee (he was the prospect Canucks traded for Clendening)

Blackhawks Top 25 Under 25: Gustav Forsling rises to No. 3 - Second City Hockey

highfive 09-28-2016 08:19 AM

Dumbest trade by benning. But then again, I don't thnink he like the size in Forsling...makes me doubt the chances of subban ever making the team.

Liquid_o2 09-28-2016 09:45 AM

Either way. He traded a good young prospect for a guy who is going to be a career minor leaguer. All because he wanted to "fill the holes" between the veterans and the prospects.

Sometimes you just have to stand pat and be focused on the end goal.

6o4__boi 09-28-2016 10:37 AM

Subban sent back to Utica
After ONE pre-season game

:rukidding:

The writing's on the wall, i think he's pretty much traded at this point.

Expresso 09-28-2016 11:06 AM

There's so many defensemen, Subban we can probably send him down and not worry about him bolting to the K.

Liquid_o2 09-28-2016 11:20 AM

Subban could probably use one more year in Utica. Nothing wrong with that. No need to rush. Pedan and Tryamkin have the edge over him this year in making the team.

6o4__boi 09-28-2016 11:26 AM

I don't disagree with both points but 1 pre-season game and so-so young-stars tourney?
I think he warrants at least 3 or 4 more pre-season games to see how he does against NHLers.

Looking forward to seeing Juolevi, Stecher and Hutton-Gudbranson tonight.

I thought we traded for him because Bieksa and whole bunch of vets were injured at that time?

Playoffs!!! remember...

Jmac 09-28-2016 04:02 PM

We could've had Subban, Forsling, and Hicketts in our system (pretty good chance at least one of them turns into an NHL dman/PP QB) and, instead, we ended up with Subban, a couple months of Clendening, and Mackenze Stewart (who couldn't even stick in the ECHL as a 20/21-year-old).

As for Subban, would be nice if they'd give him a longer look in pre-season (this is the 2nd year in a row where he was the first cut), but I ultimately agree with sending waiver-exempt players to the minors unless they're elite players.

sonick 09-28-2016 06:18 PM

Lol these forward lines tho, McDavid vs:

It's like the coaching staff is intentionally giving up offensive chances to really test the D.
