Hey guys.

Last Nintendo I bought was the GameCube. Brother bought the wii (which we haven’t even taken out of storage for 5+ years). No wiiU, no switch. I don’t even game much on my xboneS.

For a casual gamer who misses his hardcore Nintendo childhood. Is the switch lite worth it? I remember loving my original DS (then ds lite) for years.

I wouldn't recommend the switch lite, mostly due to the joy con issues that Nintendo has been having. With the regular Switch, you can just ship the joy cons back to Nintendo and get them repaired. With the switch lite, any repairs needed will require you to ship the entire console back.

Also, depending if you want to do party games or couch co op, the regular Switch would be better.

320icar 11-15-2019 12:51 AM

I’m definitely a couch gamer (not pc) and definitely casual. Last game I was able to actually dedicate some hours to was fallout 4. Before that? I gta5 maybe.

I like the idea of the more portable size of the lite, but it seems the extra ability to dock to the TV is worth it. Would definitely need the pro controller of some sort. Those little toy controllers are a joke

SkinnyPupp 11-15-2019 12:58 AM

The Hori controllers threezero posted look great. If I ever undocked our Switch I would get them for sure lol

Hondaracer 11-15-2019 08:09 AM

I didn’t realize the lite was smaller.

I’ve travelled Europe etc with the regular one and I never found it too big to carry with me etc. The screen size is also about as small as you want to go for games like BoTW because of the high level of detail

Hondaracer 11-16-2019 12:33 PM

The Pokémon game is pretty crazy..beautiful graphics and fun gameplay so far, a must pick up for any fan, even if the last games you’ve played were red/blue

ewong 11-16-2019 12:35 PM

I'm enjoying it so far. I think if you limit the amount of spoilers and just play the game it's pretty fun. The new pokemon are pretty nice.

Its actually pretty amazing.

My joy cons been completely out of battery ever since i got that thing.

No drift issues, feels like a full size controller.

Would be nice to have rumble but small trade off.

Looking for a recommendation on a good physical controller for when docked. I already have a pro controller already so wanna get something different.

Looked at the SN30 pro but it seems like there is lag issue when playing couch co-op mode.

ewong 11-19-2019 08:08 PM

I heard good things about the 8bitdo controller. I was gonna get one until the Pro Controller went on sale during the holidays.

SkinnyPupp 11-20-2019 12:40 AM

I have an 8bitdo SN30 Pro and it is pretty good. The d-pad has issues where diagonals are super sensitive, and will pick up false presses. No noticeable lag in co-op either, although the one game i played it that way had a lag adjustment (Zelda rhythm game)

Hondaracer 11-27-2019 06:23 PM

So finished Pokemon Shield..

Spoiler!

UnknownJinX 11-28-2019 10:58 AM

Speaking of Switch, any of you have issues with a burnt out fan?

My fan just stopped working, which made the Switch overheat a lot. I ordered a replacement fan on Amazon and it seems to cool properly again.

Just curious to see if anyone else has this issue. Kinda unbelievable to have something like this happen to a fairly console.

Thinking of getting a switch but there doesn't seem to be a lot of a deals on. The best deals is the Switch (old version) and Mario Bro U for 399 which is sold out everywhere.

i dropped out halfway through Black2/White2 (i had played every gen up to there), missed out everything up until i picked up Sun and Moon... was already disappointed at how ridiculously easy it was. Didn't have very high expectations for any games onwards...

ewong 12-25-2019 11:04 PM

I enjoyed Sword and Shield until I spent way too much time in the wild area and I wasn't even trying to level up my Pokemon anymore. I just kept feeding everyone candy and got really bored of it.

Spoon 12-26-2019 07:31 AM

I came to the realization that we bought the Switch just for BOTW lol. We have maybe 6-7 titles and it likely got played 80% of the play time.

I'm just waiting for BOTW2 now and hope it lives up to the hype.

Hondaracer 12-26-2019 08:29 AM

After beating shield I sold the game and used the proceeds to buy Let’s Go Eevee

Although it’s a remake of Yellow, (red is still probably one of my top 10 games) and they definitely dumbed down the entire game, ie. you don’t have to battle Pokémon before you catch them, the special abilities like cut, swim, fly, don’t take a spot in your move lineup, ecery Pokémon gets exp from battle right off the bat whether they battled or not

This remake is such a superior game to Sword/Shield. And it’s obvious they built/modified this engine to make Sword/shield as the animations and whatnot are exactly the same. Hell, I feel like some of the animations like the rocket introductions etc look even better then the sword/shield one

https://www.mod3dscard.com/blog/brea...atched-switch/

the plus side is you're getting video games on the switch like 2 months ahead of release date, the shit thing is you're losing online play with the risk of the console being banned online.

one switch for online play, one switch for hacked games if you're not doing it already :fuckyea:

For me, I spent a lot of time playing Kirby Star Allies. Other titles don't see much play time.

Kinda stopped after I finished the Ultimate Choice on Soul Melter EX, though I do want to beat the Guest Star ??? with all Dream Friends.

Has anyone tried Untitled Goose Game on the Switch? I purchased it for PC, but was wondering if game play / controls are any different on the Switch. I recently won a Switch in a raffle at work.

Hondaracer 12-27-2019 10:52 AM

Thinking I should probably just hack mine as I literally never play online and paying $100 a game is getting rediculous

I am really excited that a new Animal Crossing is landing in less than 2 months. There is also going to be an Animal Crossing New Horizons themed Switch. It looks amazing:

UnknownJinX 02-01-2020 07:19 AM

I'd rather them improve the build quality instead of "look here is a new skin."

Fix the damn Joy Cons already. And cooling system as well. Did QA people at Nintendo all die or something?

Spoon 02-01-2020 08:44 AM

If I was serious at all about pimping out my switch, I'd rather go for something like this:

These different colorways just doesn't cut it for me. I'm not buying these to be a showpiece.

Klobbersaurus 03-21-2020 08:02 PM

Just wondering if anyone would be interested in doing a family plan, I got 5 people and would like to see if anyone wants to join, it would be about $6.50 a year

Pm me if interested and I'll give you the e-transfer details

Edit - spots filled

SkinnyPupp 03-21-2020 09:44 PM

Looking for islands to check out. My friend code is

SW-2350-3955-4030

Man the game really cripples your first day doesn't it? Once you order your house and the museum, there's shit all to do. Let me get to the other side of the river! Let me chop down trees! Let me change my damn hair!
