As long as you have one of the older batches of Switches that hasn't been RCM patched, it should be ok.

Also will it always support new games etc or will there be a time where new games won’t be compatible?

I would buy from a authorized reseller but apparently taobao has it too.

So far it has worked for all new games that I tried. There are 2 file types .nsp and .xci. I prefer .nsp as the files are smaller and you can install on a SD card plus you can install dlc's.

The switch has become a portable emulator for me and it's awesome, I have been playing retro games more that actual switch games.

I recommend using XCIs since they emulate actual cartridges. Supposedly much harder to get banned with unless you actually go online with it due to the shared key.

With NSPs, once they're installed, you're highly likely to get banned if you go online due to Nintendo's telemetry. They can see that your account doesn't have the right to the installed games and bans you.

I've been using mine for months now with only XCIs. If there is a game I want to update, I load it once in CFW so it's saved on the main screen. Then I reboot back to OFW, connect online, and update all my games at once. I also buy eshop titles during this time. I haven't been banned yet.

There are inherent risks using xci files as well as no one is truely sure what is logged and sent to Nintendo when you go online. Supposedly all Nintendo carts have a unique identifier so if someone else uses the same XCI file and goes online, you risk bening banned. I wouldn't download updates files from Nintendo online either because that's a risk to be banned.

You can download updates without jeopardizing going online with your switch. The safest is way before using sx pro is to create a Nand(restore) backup. Install your nand then go online, plus I install the NSPs on my SD card and never go online because the dlcs and updates are easily accessible without going online with my switch.

Just saying there are risks either way but definitely do not go online with the switch.

apparently there is fuck heads uploading bad XCI files that brick you're console, then again its easily detectable cause the small file size is like 700mb to 1gb.

Depends on you, if you can wait you can purchase from them as it will be cheaper. Or if you want it right away, you can buy locally and pay a premium.

Tested the new leaked Super Smash Bros on my SXOS and it works perfectly. Even unlocked all the characters by changing some values of my save file in a hex editor.

Since it was a NSP, I decided to finally set up my emuNAND. Took a few hours with all the dumping and everything, but it's all good now.

When I boot into SXOS, it loads off an emuNAND that's stored on the microSD. When I boot without SXOS, it just loads the original sysNAND.

Both are independent of one another. I can keep all my offline games in emuNAND and use sysNAND for online play with real games and eShop titles.

Took the proper precautions by formatting my Switch entirely (once for emuNAND and once again for sysNAND) so hopefully I won't get banned. But if I do, guess I'll have to think about buying another Switch for online.

Here's emuNAND/sysNAND explained for the 3DS, but it's mostly the same concept. https://gbatemp.net/threads/guide-a-...munand.410439/

I haven't done the emuNAND part yet, how much allocated space are you required to have for the emuNAND? Think I have to buy a larger capacity sd card now.

The crappy thing is Nintendo has patched the new systems so SXOS may not work with new Switches. But being banned means you can't play online but you will still get the game updates and such, so its not that bad IMO.

You'll need around 32GB. It's emulating the internal space of the Switch.

Yeah, I plan on playing my downloaded titles on SXOS only. I'll play my retail and eShop titles on the original firmware. If I get banned, whatever, it's not a big deal.

Two questions:

You guys have a source you read tutorials or info on all this from?

And where did you guys actually buy from? PM me if you want, there are so many sources out there and even the ones recommended from the maker seem kinda sketchy

Simplex123 11-29-2018 08:45 AM

^ In for the PM as well :D

Razor Ramon HG 11-29-2018 02:52 PM

I stick to reddit for news on subreddits like /r/switchhaxing /r/switchpirates

I bought my SXOS from Axiogames. Then I decided to get the whole dongle and jig (SX Gear) to make my life easier also from them.

If you're buying new, just buy the SX Pro. Keep in mind that if you're currently on 6.20 firmware, no custom firmware is working right now.

Hondaracer 11-29-2018 07:18 PM

So is this the one to buy:

Switch :: Xecuter SX PRO - ModChipsDirect :: North Americas #1 Mod Chip Reseller!

This is a bit cheaper.

And right now if you have a Switch on 6.2, it won't work until SXOS is updated. And when you get it, I recommend reformatting your Switch to set up emuNAND.

Hondaracer 11-29-2018 08:20 PM

Yea I’m going to have to check my firmware because my console was on auto update but I hadn’t turned it on in quite some time

Razor Ramon HG 11-30-2018 03:35 PM

I found out you can use your PS4 controllers with your Switch.

Orzly Pro USB Dongle Wireless Controller Converter for Nintendo Switch - Includes Type C Adapter for Gamepad Mode Use - (Supports Most Xbox, Playstation, and 3rd Party BluTooth Wireless Controllers) https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07CQSP983/..._oCDaCb1BTDTPX

Works great both wired and wireless without delay.

Now I got enough controllers for 4 player Smash.

For the homebrew stuff I usually look on gbaTemp and youtube have some good tutorials but its really not that complicated. PM me if you want to know where to get games.

RetroNx or RetroArch for the switch has been awesome though they still haven't gotten some emulators to work on the switch.

Looks like the Canadian reseller I used is no longer listed on their site.

If this was 8 years ago I would have been all over modding my switch to play downloaded roms. Now I can't be bothered. Seems like such a hassle versus just buying the game. Plus I don't have all the time in the world. One game will last me a while, so I'm willing to fork over the 70$.

MarkyMark 12-07-2018 07:24 AM

Just got a switch because my wife wanted one. There's only like 3 games I care to play so I'll be buying them. Will be starting with Mario

Mario Odyssey is actually on sale right now on the eshop for the first time. So if you don't care for having a physical copy, go get it now.
