I have fond memories of playing SNES and GameCube games (mostly DKC trilogy, SMW, Melee, Bloody Roar Primal Fury), and I bought a Wii for $35 a few years ago. Been thinking about a Switch.

But I do have a question, does the absolutely stacked first-party selection make up for the lack of AAA third-party games? I mean the GameCube and Wii didn't have many either, but the third-party support dropped off a cliff with the Wii U. Indie games are on the Switch but AAA games have mostly stayed away due to the weaker hardware.

Well, one thing I can say is that if you have Switch Online Membership, you can play some SNES and NES games for free on the Switch. Whether your preferred games are there, unsure.

I don't think many people have the Switch as their only console. They own it in addition to another platform to play the AAA third party titles.

i am definitely missing not having CoD, this is my only 'current gen' console. i wish they would add some sort of CoD and rainbow 6, possibly vegas 1 and 2.

finding the fighting & FPS games are a little lacking in variety. though i am playing overwatch and suck at it :lol

Hondaracer 04-02-2020 07:44 AM

The switch has nothing outside of Nintendo titles and the odd port like stardew valley, diablo, etc

Unless you love platformers, the consoles library is incredibly weak imo. Which isn’t the end of the world as a lot of the Nintendo games are great, but it’s nowhere near Xbox/PS in terms of overall library

I called Kerrisdale, they had two in stock and I had them put aside one for me. But this is the luck of the draw.

dapperfied 04-02-2020 09:14 AM

Toys R Us Surrey has some in stock, you're gonna need to call in.

SkinnyPupp 04-02-2020 02:54 PM

If you're even thinking about getting a Switch, get one now if you can. I think once shelves are cleared, we won't see them around for a while.

You might even be able to sell them for a profit in a few months, if you're that kind of person.

Where's this coming from?

Do you know something we don't know

GLOW 04-06-2020 10:13 AM

dapperfied 04-06-2020 10:51 AM

GLOW 04-06-2020 11:32 AM

Next time what you can do is ask them to look up which stores might have some. They have access to an inventory system that is updated daily. It's not real-time but it will narrow it down for you to which stores might have stock that you can call.

That's a good idea, thank you.

And dapper not sure why you failed me but I can't see Toys R Us being an "essential" service and are probably closed like a lot of other retail stores and most of downtown.

If you google Toys R Us all their stores say closed.

Pretty wild assumption that you'll still be playing your Switch in 2 years LUL

I haven't touched ours since we all got bored of Animal Crossing. Feels like my 1 year sub is being totally wasted FeelsBadMan

Isn't it $24.99 before taxes locally?

EDIT: sorry totally read that wrong, the target link indicates a full family member membership vs. individual.

the wife still plays animal crossing with her friends and overcooked with friends. i usually play mario kart online with friends. plus my family is shared with everyone so only pay about 6 bucks a year so its not that bad.

Pretty much the only interaction we have with our friends lately.

Also ended up buying the animal crossing switch for the wife so now i have to sell the first gen switch

GLOW 11-29-2020 09:04 AM

my switch still gets used daily as i don't PC game, nor will i get any next gen console. it's pretty good deal for online sub i'd probably buy 1 year extension at least
