Fucking Benning. We paid more for JT Miller than New Jersey paid for Subban |
|
WTF is Benning doing? |
Sigh........ should be starting out at “you give us JT Miller for 5th and we won’t offer sheet Point you fucks” as a starting point and go from there... 2 picks+???? Where is Benning’s sack??? |
Godamnit lol, don't mind JT Miller but I think Benning gave up too much for him |
We basically made the Duchene trade that Ottawa made except we didn’t get a player even remotely close to Duchene |
Oh Benning..Yeah, thats enough draft talk for one weekend. See y'all on Monday! |
I guess Benning is very desperate to make it to playoffs now, his job is on the line. |
I’m not a fan of the trade... a rebuilding team nowhere near cup contention should be retaining 1st round picks...but then again if the oilers taught us anything in the past 10 years.... |
fucking moron |
WTF is Benning doing talking to Myers? We have $17 mllion left in cap space. Need to sign Boeser. |
looks like he's got a lot of work to do to make this all fit. we have at least 6 RFAs that need contracts and he still intends to add UFA Dmen. maybe eriksson, sutter, and tanev are on their way out |
If we got Subban, we could absolutely trade Tanev. Right now, our right side is Tanev, Stecher, Biega ... Myers doesn’t facilitate a Tanev trade. |
Dim Jim is good at drafting players. As a GM, his record of trades is very suspect. :lawl: |
tbh don't mind the JT miller trade, it's a conditional first round which (if things go to plan) will mean it's a late first rounder (17-30). Half the guys selected that late in the first round don't even make it as career NHLers that said, I don't know the strength of the next 2 years draft class but I'd say it's a calculated risk worth taking for a sure thing in JT miller on an affordable contract |

2020 is supposed to be a very strong draft headed by Alexis Lafreniere. |
This trade is dependent on Canucks making the playoffs. If not, it’s potentially another Ottawa Colorado trade. Hell imagine Byram and chabot? Does anyone know if miller will be lost in the expansion draft? |
it sucks to have given up a 1st round, but who's to say we won't be trading something and getting a first rounder back? i'm not saying it''ll completely even out, but we've definitely got to offload some bodies if he intends to chase after UFAs |

Players with an NMC for that season must be protected unless the player waives his NMC. All players who have played at least 2 professional seasons are eligible to be selected unless they are on the team’s protected list. Miller does not have an NMC, so he can be lost to the expansion draft if the Canucks don’t put him on their protected list. |
At first I hated this trade. But now that I think more about it, I like it. Lets say best case scenario, the Canucks make the playoffs one of these 2 years and the pick is from 16-31, what are your realistic expectations for that player? Would you be happy if he can score 20 goals and get you 30 assists a year? If your answer is yes, then that's what we're getting in Miller. Miller is also signed for 4 more years at a very reasonable 5.25M. Just look at what Kevin Hayes signed for (7.14M) a few days ago and he's never even cracked 50 points in a season. For every Brock Boeser, there's a Brendan Gaunce or Jordan Schroeder. You never know if that draft pick will turn out a player, but we are for sure getting one in JT Miller. |
^exactly. Not thrilled to give up a first but at least we have a sure thing coming back. Risk vs reward. |
But...the pick is only protected for 2020. If they get a top 10 pick in 2020, 2021 doesn't get protected and could be disaster if the team continues to be shit. Knowing the Canucks' luck, the one time they win the draft lottery they have to give it up to TB. |
1st Rd Pick is conditional of making the playoffs, in which case the draft lottery risk is moot. |

There’s no lottery protection on the 2021 pick should the Canucks miss the playoffs in each of the next 2 seasons. |
I reacted not liking the trade by default because it's Dim Jim but after I settled down I'm down with it and the reasons have already been stated so I won't get into it too much. I'm not worried about the pick I mean if we were to worry about what if's we may as well never make any trades at all. Nobody ever succeeds without taking some risks and let's not worry about something that may not happen. |
