I think JT Miller is a great pickup. It was a high price to pay... and if the Canucks squeak into the playoffs next season (which I think they could), it may end up being a 3rd round pick and 15th/16th overall in a deep draft class.

I think it would have been easier to stomach if it was the conditional 1st round pick and a B level prospect, without including the 3rd rounder.

does everything, you need guys like that in the playoffs

3 goals in 62 playoff games I heard...........

Why are we wasting time meeting with Myers who wants 7+mil a season when we can acquire Colin Miller for half the money and half the term and we dont have to give anything significant to get him.

If the lottery winning pick does go to Tampa, then I would say that this bad luck couldn't happen to better meddling owners.

I wonder what would have happened if long-game-rebuild Trevor Linden was still President.

Pretty much the only good thing Nonis did in his tenure as GM here.

I think it’s safe to say in Toronto as well. Guy just loves his bottom guys lol.

Nonis did manage to get out of the Clarkson contract. I believe I was listening to Leafs Lunch live when the trade was announced out of no where. At the time, no one thought he could move that contract. Granted he was the one who signed him to that ridiculous contract in the first place, with everyone including myself immediately thinking he overpaid. Also granted some believe others in the organization made that trade possible and all he had to do was pick up the phone.

highfive 06-28-2019 10:14 AM

Wasn't it Clarkson for Horton? Shit contract for shit contract isn't it?

Yeah, though at the time Clarkson was still playing and taking up a roster spot with an expensive, insured contract - similar to Eriksson situation now. CJB couldn't afford to pay out of pocket for Horton's uninsured contract, but the insured contract of a player who could still contribute was better for them. Leafs wanted the open roster spot, so the deal made sense for both.

Leafs with money lol.

Leafs gonna be paying almost $50 million next week in signing bonuses lol shittt.

Can someone explain? Why didn't Panthers just buy Reimer out instead? Why trade for someone with a higher contract to buy him out ... don't say it was for the 6th round pick.

Panthers trade Reimer to 'Canes for Darling; place Darling on buyout waivers

The Florida Panthers have traded James Reimer to the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for Scott Darling and a sixth round draft pick.

The 31-year-old Reimer has two years remaining on his contract at $3.4 million per season.

Darling has two years left on his contract at $4.1 million with the Panthers placing him on unconditional waivers for the purpose of a buyout.

bobbinka 06-30-2019 12:17 PM

might have to do with the signing bonus due to Reimer the next season

It's definitely to avoid the $2.25 mil signing bonus in 2020-2021.

Pavelski to Dallas apparently damn that sounds weird.

sonick 06-30-2019 07:29 PM

Jordie Benn and Tyler Myers likely signings tomorrow for the Canucks.

FN-2199 06-30-2019 08:34 PM

^ Fingers crossed we don't overpay for Myers...

sonick 06-30-2019 08:42 PM

Hearing $30m over 5yrs

punkwax 06-30-2019 09:01 PM

^ I could live with that. Much better than the 7M x 7 that has been thrown out there.

Jmac 06-30-2019 11:27 PM

This 7-day free agent negotiation window fucking sucks all the fun out of Canada Day morning.

Ch28 06-30-2019 11:44 PM
