I’d like to see Ferraro get a shot to help the Canucks out in some capacity. He’s my favourite contributor on 1040 by a country mile and has expressed interest in leaving broadcasting to work for an NHL organization. He’s an untapped resource IMO.

Me too but Aquaman doesn’t want anyone’s opinion, he wouldn’t even last a season here

Aside from the Sedins trade, the best trade he did was for Salo.

Problem is that NHL is still very much either the old boys club or the new "ANALYTICS" crew.

There is no gold standard on how to run a franchise. People go oh look at the Golden Knights! Shit McPhee traded forsberg for erat.

Actually, I feel David Poile is probably my opinion of gold standard but shit they haven't won anything.

Burke inherited what can only be described as a trainwreck of a team (hemorrhaging money, absolutely dismal performance, and literally their only good player refused to ever play for them again) with his only chips being: Bure (who wanted out), a couple of prospects in Naslund and Bertuzzi, and a high draft pick.

Burke managed to get Jovanovski and the Sedins out of that plus acquired Brendan Morrison, Salo, Burrows, etc. drafted Kesler, Bieksa, Edler, etc.

In a short period of time, the team was winning division titles and Burke had a 219-181-92 record over that span.

McPhee ran the Capitals for 17 years and won numerous Presidents’ Trophies.

Canucks hire analytics dude Ryan Biech

Jmac 07-12-2019 04:51 PM

Lindenning fired our entire analytics department except Wall upon taking over, added Aiden Fox later (was in the Brand & Creative department previously) and now add Biech.

Gillis was the first GM in the NHL to have an analytics department (termed "Moneypuck" after he referenced Billy Beane's Moneyball strategy).

Tampa signs Vasilevsky to an 8 year, 76 million extension. AAV is 9.5 million.

Wild fired their GM Paul Fenton; after just one year on the job.

604778 08-16-2019 02:47 PM

JB extended.

Liquid_o2 08-16-2019 03:31 PM

GMJB is a perfect assistant GM and head scout. I'm still unsure if he is the guy who can fill out a roster under the cap to contend. Too many free agent mistakes.

I think they should have waited 20 to 30 games into the season to see how things go. If things were going well and the team was playing strong, an extension could have been signed.

bobbinka 08-16-2019 04:25 PM

This doesn't stop him from being fired

winson604 08-17-2019 02:19 PM

Aquaman has not been afraid to fire people who are still on payroll. Torts after 1 year and Gillis still had a couple years I think just to name a couple.

murd0c 08-17-2019 02:20 PM

looks like 3 years for Benning

nah 08-17-2019 11:57 PM

Aquaman is the Jerry Jones of the NHL. Benning is the puppet and Aquaman pulls the strings behind the scene.

punkwax 08-21-2019 08:30 AM

Jack Hughes will have some ‘splainin to do..

ha that's awesome...but really, he's a young kid

wasn't it kane that was beating up taxi drivers...nothing happened to him

punkwax 08-21-2019 07:06 PM

He didn’t beat a cabbie up IIRC. He just demanded his 10 cents change back rather than tip it and made a scene :lawl:
