My friend went to Blaine today for 15 minutes... luckily he knew about the ArriveCAN app requirement, which takes like 30 minutes to fill out... but even though he told them he was gone for 15 minutes to 5D for 2 packages, they still "randomly selected" him for a self-covid test... so now he's gotta swab himself and fill out all this shit to send it in to the lab.
I mean... use some common sense... dump some kits on some people who spent a couple nights in Seattle and Portland, okay, sure... but someone who was out of the country for 15 minutes needs a test? What a waste of resources...
Maybe it really was "randomly selected" then? Can't have all the ones gone for over 24hours suddenly selected now right? heh

When I got selected, it was under the guise of computer generated random selection.
Test was easy though. From a user experience, it's really well designed - swab both nostrils 1 cm in, then swab gums. And I was able to drop it off at the nearest Shoppers.
This article is spot on in terms of what richer developed countries can do to combat new variants around the world.
We are going to see more nasty variants in the poorer developing countries like Lesotho and Mozambique if much more vaccine is not donated from the richer countries through the COVAX program.
Vaccination rates in countries like Mozambique or Namibia are so low that the likelihood of Omicron or other variants coming from those parts of the world would be high.
Vaccine hoarding and greed among the developed countries.

I went to Blaine last night for the usual 15 minute gas and parcel run and was randomly selected for a home test as well. It looked like they were giving them out to every 5th or so car in line.
