Isnt Halaks contract expiring this season? Trading him with Miller only lowers Millers trade value. With how the canucks are playing, theres no way Millers is being traded, especially with 1 more year left on his deal.

Halaks contract does expire but his bonus of 1.5 mill counts towards next year's cap hit .

I was reading an article on The Athletic yesterday addressing Canucks trade rumours, and there was a little snippet in there that nobody seemed to comment on or follow-up, an unnamed GM from another team said that the Canucks basically HAVE to trade Miller either this season or next because he's heard that there's no chance of Miller re-signing with Vancouver.

I can't say I'm super suprised if that's the case, I've never got the feeling Miller likes playing in Canada... but definitely a bit of a value deflator if the rest of the league is aware that a team can't re-sign the player they're trying to trade.

The team also plays Calgary on March 19th and April 23rd. -last game of the season will be a road game against Oilers. Those games are HUGE.
