That and, the timing of it seems to be built like a conditional offer it seems.
"We'll only trade with you at the deadline IF he doesn't sign with us first"
Sounds like the front office threw everything they could at making the deal happen, but prudent in getting a trade as a back-stop you know incase they "RAN OUT OF TIME".

RiceIntegraRS 03-21-2022 04:13 PM

U know its a bad deal if the other team thinks its the steal of the Deadline. Not sure how i feel about it. Atleast we got something for him? Does that mean our playoff hopes have gotten even more dire? The more i think about it the more i wish we would of just kept him cause its not like a 4th rounder is something that knocks ur socks off where ud be a fool not to take it.

But really if we kept him then what? It's great you're holding hope we can still make the playoffs but I think that shipped sailed homie and if it didn't certainly Motte wouldn't have been the piece that made or broke it. A 4th rounder could give us some organizational depth even if just someone who plays for the farm team and never comes up. Still need those guys.

highfive 03-21-2022 04:34 PM

Not surprised there isn't any bigger deals.

Can't really trade Miller/Boeser/Garland unless it's a deal you can't pass up.

Basically the entire Boudreau win streak putting us back into the playoffs mix prevented that. Like the team played to a position to get in (until this recent homestand) and you go off trading big pieces? What does that tell the rest of the players on the team? That no matter how hard you work, there's not loyalty?

Motte got replaced by Brad Richardson so it's a wash.

But man...still can't believe what the Florida teams paid for guys vs today. Chiarot for 1st? Hagel for 2 1st? wtf Covid hitting the florida state that hard? haha

68style 03-21-2022 05:05 PM

I'm upset about the Motte deal because Tampa Bay gave up a 4th and a really good player in Mathieu Joseph for Nick Paul.......... Motte is a way better player than Nick Paul.

Biggest deal of the day has got to be Kesler being traded to Vegas

The Official 2021/2022 Canucks & NHL Thread

Interesting facts about the new d-man Dermott:

https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/fun-...Ar9ylg5O5XO88w

Dermott was a Canucks fan growing up in Ontario.

He is a childhood friend of McDavid. They played novice and peewee league hockey for the same team. Then they played on the same junior team, the Erie Otters.

His Mom was a figure skater. -gives credit to his Mom for helping him develop above average skating ability.

-scored his pro hockey goal against Demko in 2016.

His nickname is the “Skin Doctor”. :lawl:

Dermott sort of sounds like dermatologist.

Dermott’s pet dog is a Red Merle Mini Australian shepherd. Niylah.

Interesting if it's true that several Canucks players reached out to express relief that Hamonic got traded.

How did that guy go from Mr. Congeniality in NYI > Calgary and then it was said he was such a stick up for teammates legend when he was on Calgary... I remember I think it was Brian Burke (?) rubbing one out on air about what a great team guy Hamonic is when he got his face punched in against us a few years back, ended up on the IR.

We certainly never saw it with all the bubble and vaccination BS he put the team through. Embarrassment to the nickname Hammer... Hamhuis was 10x better.

Hondaracer 03-23-2022 07:46 AM

I’m sure a big part of it was being the anti vax weirdo and not being there when the team needed him etc. I’m sure it drags on for everyone when it’s this big saga of whether he’s going to be there or not, good riddance imo

EvoFire 03-23-2022 09:31 AM

I'm still surprised we got a 3rd for Hamonic.

Without Covid I'm sure he would have been a great team mate, but it sticks out when you insist on dying on that antivax hill.

murd0c 03-23-2022 09:32 AM

it's actually shocked what we got for him, especially no other team was interested in him. I guess Ottawa made the call and Allvin couldn't say no quick enough.

I can only imagine...

Ottawa: Hey we are interested in Schenn, we'll give you a 3rd for him
Van: We aren't going to trade Schenn, but we have Hammy from Calgary on the table.
Ottawa thinks: Hamilton for a 3rd? Awesome!
Ottawa: We'll take it

Hamonic to Ottawa, 3rd pick to Vancouver

Ottawa: WTF we got shafted, you lied!

It's official, Kesler is still a Duck.

whitev70r 03-23-2022 02:10 PM

^ Waiting for Strombone to tweet.

spoon.ek9 03-23-2022 03:25 PM

Halak is the projected starter for tonight. Also some info out there saying he won't be hooked because Demko really needs a full day off

BlackV62K2 03-23-2022 04:09 PM

Halak against the best team in the league and 2nd highest for goals for lol. This is going to be a great game.

whitev70r 03-23-2022 05:14 PM

Touchdown ... 7 goals?

Halak will demand to be traded after 8 goals tonight ... ala Patrick Roy.

spoon.ek9 03-23-2022 06:17 PM

haven't been able to watch, but i'm legit surprised it's 0-0 at the end of the first period!

Teriyaki 03-23-2022 06:57 PM

What are the chances of Halak playing lights out tonight. Halfway through already

FIXT!

MG1 03-23-2022 07:32 PM

Brock rocks...... now Canucks have to step it up, 'cause once an avalanche starts, there's no stopping it.

EDIT: Nice! 2-0 JT Miller!

Uh oh................ 4th penalty

punkwax 03-23-2022 07:56 PM

This has been Pettersson’s best game in a long while.
