Love this version of O Canada, sounds like it's being played on a Casio keyboard

Interesting coverage of the CHL rape lawsuit just now, in that they made to sure to point out that the allegations were "not proven in court" and that the alleged victim was "intoxicated" when it happened

Good call!

That is a kicking motion on that skate.

There is no way the Flamers can argue that Coleman was trying to stop with one skate on the ice while he was being checked.

That’s bullshit, what was he suppose to do?

His other leg was off the ice caught behind him, is he suppose to lift that “kicking” leg off the ice too?

Edit* I guarantee you when they go back to the panel all of them are going to say that was the wrong call.

RiceIntegraRS 05-26-2022 08:11 PM

Wow just wow. Coleman was able to kick that on the leg he was balancing on?

SkinnyPupp 05-26-2022 08:12 PM

A year ago I would have argued in favour of the goal, but after something similar happened to the Canucks I learned how they call it, and they'll call it this way every time

AzNightmare 05-26-2022 08:12 PM

IMO.... bad call according to the rules.

No distinctive kicking motion.
There is no rule against "strategic placement" of the skate. He didn't sweep the feet to propel the puck in.

Teriyaki 05-26-2022 08:15 PM

That's the wrong call. There was zero direction change and the puck had 100% enough momentum to go in regardless.
Furthermore there was no option for player to use other leg to stop, was literally their only move to make.

Hondaracer 05-26-2022 08:15 PM

Lol when a guy who’s called hockey at every level for the last 20+ years is saying that’s one of the most controversial playoff goals ever, it’s definitely not a cut and dry thing.

They used to have the wording “distinct kicking motion” and that definitely wasn’t it as he was already stopping on that skate prior to hitting the puck, it wasn’t a separate motion

They just want people to tune in to the intermission and post game shows

The color guy I assume is a Flames homer, since he won't consider it at all

I'll wait for the official explanation but based on what I've seen when I was shocked at a call last year, this is how they call it

Hondaracer 05-26-2022 08:20 PM

Rhudey is the regular flames Color guy so yea, he obviously sides with the flames

But cuthbert has called so many big games etc. golden goal, countless juniors and NHL playoff games etc. I’d like to think he is at least neutral and isn’t just playing it up for the commentary
