Aww yea

westopher 05-31-2022 06:58 PM

He might still be kind of injured and I’m sure his minutes are absurd.

Yeah, Drai is playing hurt with an ankle injury.

He has no speed when he enters the Avs zone.

He carries the puck and uses his body to protect the puck from the Avs defenceman as he skates towards Kuemper.

Well that was an exciting game, and I learned something new about the rules (and a lot of NHL players and coaches did too) SeemsGood

reminds me of this.

It's exactly the same thing.. Hopefully they explained it as well as they did this time. If we see it again, we shouldn't be mad.. Possession and control are irrelevant, it's all about touching the puck

RiceIntegraRS 05-31-2022 07:17 PM

I believe Malkin did the same thing aswell, and surprise surprise it was against the Canucks so when i saw the goal, im not surprised it was a good goal.

Oh, he's been injured and players know it.
That's why injuries are often undisclosed until after the team's season ends.

Edit: OK I'm done being mad now. If puck possession doesn't matter and only touching the puck matters, then those are the rules. Good to learn something new

Piss poor explanation.

The possession should 100% be relevant, but so should the puck's location.
Logically, the idea is that the puck carrier shouldn't be able to put himself offside if he's the first man in. Like in a hypothetical, he's skating into the zone and does a spinorama right at the line, both skates in before the puck, while in full control of the puck, that would/should be onside.

But if it involves another teammate being in the zone, both skates in, before the puck crosses the line, that should be offside.

I don't have the actual rules in front of me, but that's how I always understood it.

The whole logic of it being propelled into the zone, but not necessarily have possession, then being touched by the player before it "counts" is dumb and leaves way too much room for discretion.

stamkos!

Gumby 06-01-2022 05:14 PM

I think their argument is Makar didn’t have control of the puck? At the NHL level? Yeah right! Maybe if that was me skating across the blue line…

Hondaracer 06-01-2022 05:30 PM

On the radio today they were actually saying teams got tape of these types of offside calls and were actually practicing not touching the puck upon reentering the zone

snowball 06-01-2022 06:00 PM

Lol I understand the "pass to yourself" argument for touch-up but that definitely looks like control to me. How often are players actually touching the puck when they're stick handling? like 10% of the time? Seems like selective enforcement of offside rules to me.

Control is not relevant, as long as he doesn't touch the puck yet

SkinnyPupp 06-01-2022 06:10 PM

Only in for 3rd period but this is GREAT! :awwyeah:

SkinnyPupp 06-01-2022 06:22 PM

Holy FUCK can Zibanejad launch it, with such accuracy too

whitev70r 06-01-2022 06:42 PM

Tampa Bay rusty? Haven't watched the game .. but pleasantly surprised. NY steals 1st game.

keifun 06-01-2022 07:01 PM

probably too much rest time for TBL may have been a bad thing. bit rusty
Not a NYR fan but I hope they win the series.

Cooper was saying his team is seriously banged up, think he said it was the worst he's ever seen it

From the parts I was able to watch, Tampa did seem a bit out of sync. It's not like they weren't generating some grade A chances. Their timing just seemed a bit off for whatever reason (injuries, rust, etc). I fully expect to see a better game 2 from them. Vassy will definitely want to redeem himself after allowing a very uncharacteristic 6 goals.

The "Igor's better" chants could come back to haunt Rangers fans later on :lol

68style 06-02-2022 09:11 AM

Vassy's stats look awful from that game, but watching the entire game he was absolutely under siege and all the goals scored were from the highest danger positions... cross-zone one-timers... I mean the Zibenijad PP goal was like his 3rd clear cut 96mph bomb in a row.

The only one he maybe should have had was Chytil's long wrister but it was a perfect shot and you could tell he was screened until last minute.

Tampa will adjust I think, get back to blocking and boxing everyone out.

It's not a steal when you have home ice advantage ;)

whitev70r 06-02-2022 02:27 PM

^ oh my bad, I thought 1st game was in Tampa ... thought for sure Tampa was higher in ranking but I guess not.

whitev70r 06-02-2022 02:30 PM

Kuemper out for Colorado ... hmmm, this could be a massive factor in the series depending on how long he's out for.

SkinnyPupp 06-02-2022 04:48 PM

Great game so far, Oilers kill a PP and a 5-3 with Mikey making a tremendous pad save
