I mostly just hear his name in trade rumours as usual like every other year.

Tocchet sure has killed any momentum around Kuzmenko, guy has barely touched the ice under him as coach... so much for the only fun thing we had to watch this year. Also typical Canucks, sign a guy for big $ at his peak value instead of trading him and then tank his confidence/career so that he becomes worthless.

whitev70r 02-13-2023 07:55 AM

Yah, what is with the Kuzmenko treatment? The Prez and GM signs him to a 2 yr deal and then Tocchet comes in ... is the front office and coach on the same friggin page? What a crazy start!

bobbinka 02-13-2023 08:19 AM

Brock isn't getting the love he once got because this year was supposed to be his bounce back year. He's supposed to be a goal scorer, but just hasn't done that (and question as to whether he'll ever get back to 30). Having said that, he's actually on pace for the same 50-60 points he's always had every year, just less goals.

Martin on waivers for purpose of reassignment to Abby. Demko must be close to returning. Let's hope he doesn't regain form and becomes an additional tank commander :lol

They should honestly just sit out Demko for the rest of the season unless they're trying to showcase him before some blockbuster at the trade deadline.

Liquid_o2 02-13-2023 11:32 AM

You think Demko would be happy with that? Goalies are ultra competitive, so if he is healthy, he will want to get back to playing.

whitev70r 02-13-2023 11:46 AM

It's a lose lose move ... in order to get something of value for moving Demko, he would have to put together a string of wins before the deadline which doesn't help with chances on the Bedard sweepstakes. On the other hand, if he is par or sub par, then no team will want him.

He's signed for a while, so I think it's better that he make sure he's 100% healthy before joining again. I have suspicions he started the season with undisclosed injuries - probably the hip as do many other people.

Best situation is he sits out, team continues to tank, we get a good draft, and he comes back healthy next season.

68style 02-13-2023 12:37 PM

Martin sure fucked up his opportunity

spoon.ek9 02-13-2023 01:02 PM

Let's be honest here fellas, Martin is a career AHL goalie who worked hard to earn the backup stop. He was suddenly thrust into the main role and obviously couldn't handle it but also, our defense is shit. Even with a HHOF goaltender, this defense would wreck them. Martin did his best and hopefully he can gain back his confidence in the minors.

As for Demko, again, our defense is shit lol. We bleed goals at an alarming rate. There's only so much he can do to steal a game or two. There's also been no indication that he's unhappy here. He'd probably be ok with leaving here but he's under contract so until that demand for a trade comes he ain't going anywhere. This season is a bust anyways. Even if they're ultra competitive (which vast majority of NHLers are) the writing is on the wall.

68style 02-13-2023 01:08 PM

I know the problems of the team...

But did you watch the Detroit game? First 2 shots both beat him and they weren't difficult... he's deep in his crease and his rebound control would make Cloutier blush... he needs to go back to work on his mechanics.

I appreciate his dedication to the tank though!

bobbinka 02-13-2023 01:25 PM

Did not realize how bad he was. Spencer is last in save % in the league, and 3rd last in GAA. The real tank commander.

-looks like Schenn will be traded soon. His wife's pregnancy is apparently being taken into consideration of the trade timeline given that Schenn's wifey is expected to give birth in the coming weeks.

whitev70r 02-13-2023 01:44 PM

^ which team? I heard Toronto wanted Schenn. Just checked Schenn's salary ... so cheap, like $850K !!! Hopefully, Canucks get something good in return.

spoon.ek9 02-13-2023 01:50 PM

They should absolutely trade him. Word is he will fetch us a 2nd rounder or at the very least a 3rd. He can always be signed again during the summer. We need assets.

Gives him another shot at a cup with a contender and we gain another pick. Win win situation.

Liquid_o2 02-13-2023 02:14 PM

The Canucks shouldn't trade Schenn if they can't get at least a 2nd round pick in this upcoming draft. I would rather keep him if all they can get is a 3rd rounder. This team needs some veteran leadership and guidance moving forward.

Schenn is a UFA. He can always opt to come back and sign with the Canucks again.

68style 02-13-2023 03:19 PM

Friedman to Pettersson: "Which 2 guys are the most underrated in the room or don't get enough attention around the league?"

Pettersson: "Besides the guy who just left? Schenn. Definitely Schenn."

Petey ain't gonna be happy

Razor Ramon HG 02-13-2023 04:01 PM

I read that Schenn and his family really likes Vancouver. I think there's a high chance he'll just come back in the offseason.

6thGear. 02-13-2023 05:32 PM

A big part was the Canucks giving him a second chance which led him to getting his ring with Tampa. He's said before how much gratitude he has for this team.

Canucks going Full Retard for Bedard! :alonehappy:

SkinnyPupp 02-13-2023 07:11 PM

Hughes is so fun to watch

whitev70r 02-13-2023 07:51 PM

How's the attendance lately at the actual home games? Anyone go recently? Only people that go (that I know of) are folks who get free tix.

SkinnyPupp 02-13-2023 08:12 PM

I wouldn't say it's crowded, but attendance is a lot higher than you would expect for a team that sucks this much.
