Wow... big trade for Dubois! Kings get: Dubois Jets get: Alex Iafallo, Rasmus Kupari, and Gabriel Vilardi and Montreal’s second-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft. I can understand Winnipeg wanting a guy like Iafallo to be part of the deal... but they need to do their research, the dude literally lives in a van by the ocean and does nothing but surf when he's not playing. He's going to fuckin hate it in Winnipeg and may not even go there let alone stay there. |
Winnipeg at least has fantastic beaches, real shitty surfing tho lol |
C'mon Allvin! Make the first round pick and the five other picks in the 3rd and 4th rounds count! -gonna be a good test to see how good the the team scouts and analytics work are for the Canucks in terms of tonight's draft. https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article...-any-scenario/ Todd Harvey, Canucks director of scouting: The No. 11 pick will be the franchise’s highest since 2019 and its six picks in the first four rounds are the most for the Canucks in 29 years. Harvey believes this draft will prove to be as special as everyone thinks. “I think it is,” he said. “You look at the top guys and you've got some really, really good players at the top. And then moving down the list, it's strong. You can probably get similar players anywhere from 12 to 35. I mean, it is a deep draft. And I think there's real value in those later rounds. So we're excited to make some picks in the third. |
No surprise, bedard goes first. Let's see what the nux do! |
It's today? Yah .. OMG ... what a surprise, Chicago picks Bedard. This Russian player Matvei Michkov is also supposed to be a stud but the risk of picking Russian player in this global climate ... roll your dice whether you waste a pick or not. |
Lol, Carey Price |
Tom Willander (D) for nux |

I was looking at the Canucks draft history from the last 10 years and it is downright shocking how few players even if they did make the NHL barely did or aren’t playing anymore. There are like 3-4 draft years I skimmed through where nobody on the list made the NHL or, even if they did, played a couple of games before disappearing. Our drafting is pretty fuckin trash. |
^I think that is actually the statistical norm. Out of 100 players drafted, maybe 15-20 make it to NHL... |

at the very least, with the exception of Juolevi who had a cup of coffee with the big team, the rest of the list here has played or been on the roster for most of the year. Gaunce Horvat Virtanen Boeser Juolevi Petey Hughes Podkolzin |
I read some stat that 50% of all players drafted make it to NHL but they used a very low bar, played 1 game in the NHL. Most of us would use a more common sense bar eg. played one season or cracked a lineup consistently. I still think it's close to 20% of those drafted would make it to this common sense criteria. |
The only 'surprise' came in the 2nd & 3rd picks, as the Ducks took Leo Carlsson at No. 2 instead of Adam Fantilli, who went third overall to the Blue Jackets. Fantilli saying, oh shit, I have to play for Babcock for at least 2 yrs !! (Who incidently, will be off Leafs salary tomorrow, June 30th :lol) Welp, he got his wish. |
OEL goes to Panthers . $2.25M for 1yr |
Carson Soucy 3 yr @ 3.25m aav. Seems to be their big signing, seems like a decent 2nd pairing LD. Couple other show me contracts which are good, Ian Cole 1 yr 3m and Teddy Bluegar 1 yr 1.9m. |
The Official 2023/2024 Canucks & NHL Thread More player signings: General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that the #Canucks have agreed to terms with the following players: - Ian Cole (one year, $3M) - Teddy Blueger (one year, $1.9M) - Tristen Nielsen (two-year, entry-level contract) Sent from my iPhone using Taps talk |
