Cory Schneider retires

So WHL coach Kevin Constantine has been suspended. Anyone know what the allegations are this time around? He's been in trouble in the past for how he has treated players.

An announcement about Luongo being inducted into the Canucks' Ring of Honour:


Vancouver, B.C. – The Vancouver Canucks announced today that former goaltender Roberto Luongo will be inducted into the club’s Ring of Honour on December 14, 2023, when the Canucks host the Florida Panthers. The organization originally announced that Luongo would become the eighth player in franchise history to receive the honour on November 30, 2022.

“We are glad to officially have a date set for Roberto’s incredibly well-deserved induction to the Canucks Ring of Honour,” said Jim Rutherford, Vancouver Canucks President, Hockey Operations. “He is one of the greatest players to ever represent this team and his legacy continues in Vancouver to this day. As proud as we are to recognize Roberto with this achievement, it is as much of an honour for the organization and our fans to be able to celebrate him again in our building.”

Luongo spent eight years of his Hall of Fame career in Vancouver from 2006-2014 and was widely recognized as one of the League’s elite goaltenders during that time. Throughout his Canucks tenure, Luongo was nominated for several NHL awards, including the Vezina Trophy (2007, 2011), Lester B. Pearson Award (2007), Hart Memorial Trophy (2007), and the William Jennings Trophy (2011) which he won alongside creasemate Cory Schneider for the lowest goals-against average in the NHL.

Not mad about those AHL assignments. Obviously not great that players like Podkolzin haven’t taken a step but a few of those names probably would’ve made the roster over the last season or two.

The new brass and coaches have made our team better/tougher to play against in fairly short order SeemsGood

Kind of awesome the Canucks have a player named Jett on their roster (my cat's name). Hope he does well enough to get called up so I can cheer him on!

Did Hoglander get bumped up?

Kind of disappointing Podkolzin is still an AHLer.

I’m concerned for Podz, he looked really lost out there in preseason.

Not a good look if he’s a bust and we’ve got Juolevi, Virtanen and Podkolzin all as recent top10 busts to show for 3 draft years.

They’ve been playing yo-up’s with the lineup and Abby assignments and recalls this whole week… they sent Wolanin down and called up Hirose and then immediately sent Hirose down again

I'm so happy it's finally game day, My fricken TV died Monday night so I of course had to go pick up a new one yesterday since I can't miss opening night LOL
