I'm just happy to not see us throwing 4 or 5 year deals at players.

Damn !!! Why the hell would the Panthers want him at that price, maybe vet min, $1M a yr ...? So you're saying if Canucks retained $2M/yr of his salary, they could have made a trade? Even if it for a pick in the 4th or 5th round?

Lol it would have been interesting to see him traded with the Nucks retaining salary and then OEL sucking so hard that the new team ends up buying him out down the road meaning 3 teams would be dinged with using a buyout spot don't think that has ever happened before.

bobbinka 07-01-2023 02:15 PM

It's only 1 yr and they didn't have to give up a draft pick

spoon.ek9 07-01-2023 03:09 PM

OEL's contract was shit and the entire NHL knew it except for Benning. No one was going to take it on.

u say that, but did Allvin try to talk to Lou Lamarello about OEL as well?

seems like they love these extremely long term contracts

whitev70r 07-01-2023 08:57 PM

I'm just shocked as hell that one of the SC finalists want OEL ... at $2.25M

Panthers' D core looked pretty damn good ... why would they want to add a pylon and waste that cap space ??!!

Went to Elisa on Friday night, saw Francesco having dinner with Rick Tocchet and some Canucks execs.

Francesco is such a pimp. He had a hot glitzed up young chick with nice tits sitting at a table on the other side of the restaurant away from them, by herself. He'd periodically leave the business table and go sit with her and chat and then head back to the big wigs.

I found it so amusing watching this chick sit solo and try to busy herself on her phone while drinking champagne between his walk over visits.

Power move -- Sit by yourself woman until we're done talking business, then I'll come over and join you for the night :lol

teggy604 07-04-2023 07:31 AM

Since Aquilini group owns Elisa steak house, he probably does business there more often. Every time you go, there will be another hot woman sitting there alone while Aquaman conducts business. lol.

and it's also a tax write off which is the major thing. May as well give himself money then someone else.

whitev70r 07-04-2023 08:53 AM

^ do you mean the steak house ... or the women?

murd0c 07-04-2023 09:06 AM

Steak house but I'm sure he some how gets a tax write off on the woman as well lol

6thGear. 07-04-2023 09:46 AM

Escorts = business entertainment = tax write off

68style 07-07-2023 01:26 PM

So Canucks posted jersey number picks for new players:

Ian Cole #28
Cason Soucy #7
Teddy Blueger #53

Canucks comment threads are just wild with people saying it's too soon for #53 and also that nobody has worn #28 since Luc Bourdon passed away... any thoughts on both?

I don't think Bo did enough to warrant a number reservation, but bold move still on Blueger's part haha... Ian Cole though I think might want to reconsider, seems like asking for bad luck???

Razor Ramon HG 07-07-2023 01:34 PM

Bourdon's number should be unofficially retired like Maki's was (until you know who showed up and demanded it). I think Rypien's is unofficially retired as well since no one has used 37 since.

Don't really care about someone else using 53 though.

68style 07-08-2023 04:40 PM

Wow Ian Cole made a press release saying he is changing his number to 82 after being made aware of 28 having been Luc Bourdon’s number.

Classy move, too bad the organization itself didn’t give him the friggin heads up.

I bet the organization didn't even remember it was Luc's number; that's how much respect they have for Canucks fans.

Leafs going to give Matt Murray the Joffrey Lupul treatment ...

The Official 2023/2024 Canucks & NHL Thread

Blockbuster NHL trade.

Eric Karlsson plays with Crosby and Malkin now:

Pittsburgh acquires defenseman Erik Karisson, forward Rem Pitlick, forward Dillon Hamaliuk and San Jose’s 2026 third-round
draft pick. • San Jose acquires Pittsburgh’s 2024 first- round draft pick (top-10 protected), forward Mikael Granlund, defenseman Jan Rutta and
forward Mike Hoffman. • Montreal acquires Pittsburgh’s 2025 second- round draft pick, defenseman Jeff Petry, goaltender Casey DeSmith and forward
Nathan Legare.

Per the Penguins, SJ retains $1.5M of Karlsson’s salary…Pittsburgh retains 25 per cent of Petry’s.

The Penguins will also retain 25 per cent of Petry's salary ($1.5 million) for the next two seasons.

Canucks sign Pius Suter, 2x1.6m

Razor Ramon HG 09-09-2023 08:43 PM

So Izzy just got owned and he's on the cover of UFC5, which is coming out next month. That reminded me of the EA cover athlete curse.

I remembered lining up for a special version of NHL where the Sedins were on the cover. I Google'd and they were on NHL 11 and you know what happened that year. FeelsBadMan
