N18 in this is much better but it’s not bulletproof. Some of the items you listed are much less severe - wear issue that might not hit instead of catastrophically bad.

Not a B48 mini but I think it’s reasonable.

what a disappointing car (this one specifically)

whole car: heavily swirled but correctable
hood/front bumper: deeply scratched, looked like it was keyed and heavily rocked chipped
front fender/rear quarter panel: rusted
side skirts/wheel well: completly sand blasted
wheels: 3 were heavily curbed and the finish on all 4 were toast.
from the pic posted, i first thought it was some quirky finish. seeing it in person i realize it was the clearcoat failing

judging from the disappointment in my face, i wasnt even offered a test drive. i still wanted to drive it but at the same time i didnt want to waste the guys time because it wasnt the right car for me.

i would have expected a car in this sort of condition at a independent dealership but not at a name brand dealer. honestly they should have wholesaled it instead of having it on their lot.

Yarg. You should have feigned interest so you can at least drive the little sucker

red kryptonite 04-19-2025 10:07 PM

it was hard to hide the disappointment, it was that bad.
well at least i got a free dealership coffee

trollface 04-20-2025 08:51 AM

colour changing a car (paint) is such an insane move

red kryptonite 04-22-2025 12:12 PM

I saw that too. I was interested until I read repaint and high km.
But he is moving to Japan, maybe he’ll accept a lowball in a couple months if it’s still around.

JDMDreams 04-22-2025 12:20 PM

Km doesn't seem that high for like 13 year old car, less than 10000 km a year.

red kryptonite 04-22-2025 01:31 PM

Good point. Just higher than I would like.

underscore 04-22-2025 01:44 PM

It looks like a quality repaint at least, seeing as they did the jams.

underscore 04-22-2025 02:41 PM

This is a project for sure, but you don't see many of them these days. 1997 Eagle Talon AWD, turbo, manual that needs some love.

Reading that ad and the types of parts he procured for it and how he talks about it... mileage is irrelevant, this is the epitome of a buying the owner car. I wouldn't even hesitate if I wanted one of these. Even has a new clutch??? Sounds like he replaced badges and foglights just to refresh them.

I'd show up with $15k and drive off with it feeling really good about things.

red kryptonite 04-22-2025 03:57 PM

I kept opening up the ad throughout the day. It’s growing on me.
The seller does seem very passionate for the car and the pic and ad wasn’t half assed.

I guess my next concern is how well it was painted and the condition it was in going into the booth.

I messaged him. Let’s see if this is the one…

bcrdukes 04-22-2025 04:40 PM

Did my R53 Mini inspire you? :troll:

(I hope to God no.)
