Cough is the golf r that bad? Have you sat in the gr Corolla? It's like courtesy car special in there. E36 was typical hard plastic, e53 e39s also had stiff hard leather, all the plastics breaking and creaking. For e90 was it even real leather anymore or they did that vegan shit.

trollface 02-16-2025 09:56 AM

He's talking about the Golf Wagon.

bcuzracecarz 02-16-2025 11:19 AM

BAWS he means, said interior ruined it for him. I’ve only been in a couple but the crayon interior fit and finish never did it for me either. Shiny plastic is a finger print nightmare too

I might be completely wrong here, but it also feels like BMW 3er interior went down hill post E46. You start to see the poor quality materials and more road noise in the E90, and then in the F30 it's even worse! You get alibaba coloured trim BOO

The E9X imo is probably the low point in BMW interiors with fragile painted plastics that crack as they age.

The Dakota leather in the regular F30 is pretty gross, but then the Merino leather in the F80 is so fragile. Knock on wood no issues on my leather but lots of ppl have insane wear on the seat bolsters.

The higher end stuff seems to wear a bit better. The leather in the X5 is wearing quite well.

red kryptonite 02-16-2025 11:33 PM

i test drove a few higher km g80 before and the leather is holding up much nicer, but then again these "3er" were 6 figures

agreed the x5 leather is nice... i wonder if the massaging feature will cause extra wear over time.

trollface 02-17-2025 01:52 PM

Bruh, the E36 M3 adjusted for today's dollars was deff not equal to 50k. That thing was 60k in 1994. That's like 73k USD today, aka 110k CND.

For double the money, I'm not surprised everything was nicer.

westopher 02-17-2025 03:55 PM

If we were comparing new to new, I agree it's no surprise, but after 30 years of wear, it shouldn't be nicer than a new car. Mine has 220k on it. That's a lot of use.

trollface 02-17-2025 04:26 PM

If you're fat or live somewhere hot, the leather will be shot.

Back in the day they were allowed to use hex chromium skins and all kinds of nasty stuff + oil-based paints. Now we can't have plastic straws and skins are tanned with veg + bark.

Blame the EPA for taking away all the good stuff. It's horrible for the environment, but much high quality.

Anyone driven one of these manual X3s?

04 X3 3.0i 6MT lol

This was my point as well. 350K KM in my experience, but still much better than a Golf R, which is already "better" than base golf. I can't, and don't want to, imagine how shitty it is.

Badhobz 02-18-2025 09:43 AM

they've really cut corners in the new golf mk8 and above. Materials are cheap and plasticky, and the fit / finish is trash compared to the previous mk7/7.5

I guess they had to cut a lot of $$$ out of the mk8+ in order to build them in germany and still keep all these modern day "safety features"

Wow a dealer than didn't diarrhea on keywords. Impressive.

That looks like it might be RWD so really why not just get a 3 series? You have to deal with shitty Spartanburg build quality on any BMW SUV that's not a X1.

I didn't think it was that bad but I only had a short stint in your MK8. The MK7/7.5 admittedly took a few drives for me to get annoyed with the interior quality. If MK8 is cost cut compared to MK7 which is already shit, this must be really shitty.

Is this a thing? I drove a E chassis X3 35i and it was so much shittier than the 535i that I normally drive. The interior materials are so much worse than the 5er. I also really didn't like the seating position or pedal placement, but I guess that comes with driving a SUV. I think having experienced a 5er, it's ruined me for baseline expectations. F10 5er interior is pretty close to the E36 interior (lux package), which I guess really is a testament to how good the E36 is.

yray 02-18-2025 10:36 AM

those X3s was built by magna

JDMDreams 02-18-2025 11:49 AM

^ is that good or bad? They also build the ineos

yray 02-18-2025 11:54 AM

immorality 02-18-2025 01:27 PM

2011 328i xDrive Black/Black 6MT Wagon - 202KM

Lovely spec, can't say much about pricing? Actually doesn't seem too high for LCI. Bit high mileage though, but very well kept.

Pricing is fair for the amount of maintenance completed. The seller seems to be pretty detail oriented, evident throughout the ad.

I feel like examples of well taken care of BMW wagons are hard to come by, let alone the difficulty of finding a wagon AND a manual too

Qmx323 02-19-2025 12:50 PM

Well-kept BMW Manual Wagon is nearing unicorn status, totally agree.

JDMDreams 02-19-2025 01:17 PM

You have to really want it. Typical tail gate issue. At the end of the day it's a 240? Hp mt wagon. Where you probably can't get your money back out of as it continues to BMW nickel and dime you.

AstulzerRZD 02-19-2025 02:26 PM

n52 e91 is pretty reliable but the clear coat defects really kill

is e60 going to be much worse maintenance wise?

https://carsandbids.com/auctions/rNM...1d9&ref=pr_1_5

westopher 02-19-2025 03:13 PM

Love that e91. Just a little long in the tooth for me age wise, but spectacular fun/only car for someone.

SkunkWorks 02-19-2025 05:28 PM

Swap in a saddle brown interior and a 3 stage intake manifold and that E91 will be peachy.

I sold mine for more so I don't think price is out of line for a clean well-maintained manuel example.

whitev70r 02-19-2025 07:23 PM

For this price or less, might be a fun little DD. 05 V50 T5 6 spd manual with only 169K kms, $5900
