I really don't know the exact detail.
you can ask current owner or the mechanic.

Timpo 12-13-2002 10:43 PM

A4Quattro 12-13-2002 10:44 PM

I would hope so. You can bring an FD up from the states for under $17000.

Paradox 12-13-2002 11:12 PM

Paradox 12-13-2002 11:15 PM

it is really nice car but seriously, don't pay $14000 though...
offer him like $10000(or even less)...it is good to save your money so that you can mod your car after...like front mounted intercooler.:)

DriftVirgin 12-14-2002 12:28 AM

I'm thinking I'll offer 9000 to start
if they say no... then I'll wait a bit and come back with 9500, if they say no again
I'll see for 10 000, but no higher

NanaimoRx-7 12-14-2002 12:56 AM

2 1/4 - 2 1/2 is fine, I might bump my exhaust up to 2 1/2 when I get the exhaust straightened (under axel) and put on a smaller tip. Will reducing the tip from 4.5 " to saaaay 3 make much of a difference? I want more Vrrrrrom and less fart can, although it doesn't compare to most of the awful fart cans in nanaimo I want some more flow with less noise. Also, I gotta start preparing for the street port of half bridge, opening the exhaut for that is going to make it notably louder than now so I gotta make some preparations. Unless someone knows where I can buy a mechanical dump for my exhaust...if I can find a decently priced one I'd put a fairly restrictive exhaust on then use the dump for "track days" also known as "every day the cops aren't around".

Well I found a few but none that are cheap.
They wat 420US$ for this one http://checkout.verisign.com/isroot/...06-1199859.jpg

This one would be nice, but impossible to control from inside the car. Which would make it difficult to return the car to a quite state if needed. 118US$ http://www.headerdumps.com/dump1.jpg

This is the cheapest dump I have found (179US$), however it is electrical, which is nice, but I woud think that a mechanical one would be cheaper...

Anyone know where I could find one?

CanadianRX7 12-14-2002 01:35 AM

Cobra buy that 88 instead..Its usually not a good idea to buy a modded car also..Usually means they drove it hard and with a rx7 lots of owners put on full exhaust and intake and dont even bother with fuel mods which means the engines are pretty much dead in most cases..

$10,000 ouch i paid $5,500 for mine..wait and look for a good price..it only took me 4 weeks to find mine :)

yeah thats good idea...
don't pay more than 10k...
you should say something like "I HAVE $9000 IN CASH RIGHT NOW!!!!"....so that he may consider selling immmediately.

as long as he is careful or the send it to an inspection...then I think its ok...
this is my personal opinion though...

Timpo 12-14-2002 09:53 AM

DriftVirgin 12-14-2002 12:21 PM

I read on a few site that say stock port run a free flow 2" for best results then add a .5" increase for porting or forced induction. So 2.25 or 2.5 would be best for it.I hear Borla XR-1's are really nice sounding mufflers for the 12a's mine had 2" straight off the manifold to 2-14" glasspacks on my 12a and it sounded awesome.Loud at high rpms but nice for around town driving.:D

CanadianRX7 12-14-2002 06:37 PM

gotcha
