I've tried Sal y Limon before, they have decent tacos. Didn't try anything else on the menu though.

If you don't mind going south of the border theres a pretty good place not too far down.

yup, it's by the shitty gas station and stuff. epic cheap, their green and red sauce is jut awesome and it's so cheap.

i know the mexican guy that was there for the years he has been there. i"m like the only asian dude that he remembers. i still remember the day he quit and waiting for his last pay check. he said the boss kept the tips and just didn't give it back ot the operator. so sad.

Platform 7 coffee shop on E. Hastings right beside tacofino. Haven't tried much there but my americano was awesome and my friend said the london fog was good too. Just hipster enough for me :D

La Taqueria

8.5/10

First time there, tacos were amazing, particularly liked the pork cheeks and Asada. The pineapple pop beverage was also really good. Only downside was limited seating.

L'Abattoir - 9/10

Pretty good food and good service! Nothing to really complain about except for the portions. They're a little on the small side.

I'd suggest trying it out.

Always wanted to try that restaurant...

But always decide a few days before the impending date... and BAM... no tables.

HonestTea, how is the ambiance and parking for the restaurant?

Parking is always a bit tough for Gastown. I usually just go with street parking on Water Street(usually full) or a little before Water Street on Powell. Another suggestion is Cordova but it's pretty quiet at night.

Ambiance is good. Dim-lit and can be just a spot to just chill with friends or can be a romantic dinner with the SO. It wasn't too loud either, which was good but that depends on the people sitting around you lol

Sol Y Limon?

Had some dornados, they sucked. They tasted like a shittier version of samosas.
Their tacos are decent. No idea why this place is popular.

0/10 on the dornados, I don't think many would enjoy them. Mushy potatos and chorizo or whatever you choose, zero flavour except for the sauces you pour on them.

Granted, there's a cute chick that works there.

Ouch. That sucks.

I know you made it a point that the dornados sucked, but if you were to rate the place on the tacos alone, what would you give it?

Or would you out right recommend everyone to simply avoid it like the plague?

BCIT NE1 has best tacos. $1.99/ea. I go there every day.

10/10

The tacos were comparable to dona cata? on Victoria drive. I think Dona Cata is replaced with hipsters now? that was a while ago though.

But yeah, I think if you were to go there for the Tacos alone, you can't go wrong. @ 2.40? ish. I enjoyed them -flavour was good and sauce options.

I'll probably try some more options from Sal y limon, but yeah, tacos would be a good first pick for a first time visit at this place.

Hmm thinking back on those tacos, I think I actually might rate it above Dona Cata's tacos. They were piping hot and flavour was great. Hmm the more I think about the Tacos lol, I say better than decent, 8ish/10?

They're still there and food is still good.

I think people just stopped posting about it.

E11even

6.5/10 - Food was okay but the service was lousy, slow and I think they forgot my order. It's basically a sports bar.

Cutters crab house in Seattle.
The prawn was very good.

8/10

Kamei Baru by Scotiabank Theatre.
Had some pre NYE dinner with my buddy.

Food was better than the last time I went but the service was pretty slow considering how not busy it was.

The alcoholic beverages also seem less diluted than typical Asian restaurants.

8/10.
It's a bit more $$ (about the same as Ebisu but in my opinion tastes better or some stuff).
Ebisu has a way better Volcano roll though. Also, the yakiudon portion size is kinda small for the price.

Bone Sushi at Empire Center in Richmond

Very artistic yet average price sushi.
