I see some mixed reviews online too but my GF wants to try it as our SFU friends suggested it and seem to like it.
It's run by koreans? I hope the service is better than sushi garden... although the food at sushi garden is pretty acceptable IMO

Quality of the food was sub-par. It was very sloppy when it came to preparation, most of the rolls and nigiri were falling apart and/or broken. There is so much filler in their rolls, it's not even worth what you pay.

Yes, owned and operated by Koreans. Service was just as bad, if not, worse than Sushi Garden.

no.1 beef noodle house 7/10
cheap food, fast! the server was a little on the bitchy side though.

Tea Works on Victoria
8/10
not bad, the servers don't really care after they drop off the food.

Kimura Sushi - 8.5/10

Ordered the chicken teriyaki with assorted tempura dinner combo and thought the food was pretty good. Not a big fan of the salads that came with it though. Found the service to be exceptionally good. Smiles all around and everyone seemed to have a good attitude. Will definitely be back again. :)

Qirin in Coquitlam: 8/10
company dinner, otherwise I normally don't really enjoy high(er) classed Chinese restaurants
great lobster though

Red Star Seafood Restaurant (on Granville & 66th): 7/10
good roast duck, but otherwise pretty pricey for your average dimsum place

Pho Vinh

Decided to try something else rather than getting the usual (pho)

It's Kirin for ppl who aren't chinese (in case ppl want to go try and can't google it)

fliptuner 12-13-2010 05:43 PM

Dimsum there is pretty good but the Starlight and downtown locations have a better selection.

i always like the Kirin richmond location, a new spot i tried after reading about "hsbc best dim sum" was Jade in Richmond.

I would still rate Kirin over jade by a slight margin.

Felicos owner vows to keep dream alive
Martin van den Hemel
staff reporter
For the families of murder victims Dinos Stylianou and Susanna Ho, Wednesday's ruling that convicted murderer Kambiz Mafi won't be eligible for parole for two decades was met with mixed emotions. Ho's brother-in-law, William Chong, cheered the decision by B.C.
Supreme Court Justice Wallace Oppal. But for Dino's brother Stelios Stylianou, known to friends as Steve, it mattered little what the judge decided.
Whether it was 10 years, 20 years or 40 years, Felicos restaurant owner Stelios said he knows no amount of jail time will bring back his brother.
It was one year ago this week, during a hot July 31 evening, that Dinos Stylianou and Ho were viciously stabbed to death at Felicos restaurant on Leslie Road. The ruling brings to a close one painful chapter in the lives of both families.
"Now we can get on with our lives," a somber Stelios Stylianou said on the patio outside Felicos early Friday morning. "It's going to be very difficult, but it will be easier now that the justice system has worked. Dinos will always be on my mind."
Stelios said he and Dinos were more than just brothers and business partners. They were best friends, often spending more time together running their restaurant than with their wives and children.
Along with the emotional suffering and sense of loss, Stelios said business at the restaurant has been tough since the murders, down by as much as 30 per cent in some months.
Shortly after the murders, Stelios considered closing down the restaurant. But he knows that Dinos would have wanted him to continue working on the dream they both shared. That dream became a reality 12 years ago when the brothers opened Felicos.
Stelios will miss his brother and his family, who have decided to move back to Cyprus. He will miss playing tennis with his best friend and watching his nephew and two nieces grow.
Though he still goes to the restaurant every day, Stelios said he has lost much of the enthusiasm he once had.
The dream has changed.
Now he works for his loyal employees and both his and Dino's families.
Stelios hopes restaurant-goers will eventually warm back up to Felicos. Nonetheless, he is grateful for the show of support from his employees, family and the rest of the community who have helped to ease some of the pain.

What, you didn't like the decor? :p

The meat sauce is really good there (and that's about it), it's just ruined by the watery pasta.

bcrdukes 12-15-2010 09:25 PM

Yes. I agree. Felt like I was eating at a expensive Anton's. :lol

Zakkushi on Denman. 7/10.

Food took forever to come for us. I guess they forgot our order or something.

I love Anton's. I don't care what any of you say.

Their Penne Bombay is amazing. I would eat that everyday.

And mk1freak, I'm pretty sure you owe me.

I had to entertain your twins, remember?
