expensive.

9.95 for the lunch box
6.95 for the karaage (6 wings)

expensive? What do you expect for 9.95? McDonalds meals are like $6-$7 , footlong sub is like 10 bux

Koon Bo - 41st and Fraser

Started with roasted squab 9/10 , crab with fish maw soup 9/10 , smoked black cod 9/10 , eggplant hotpot 7/10 (taste was ok, but way too much oil), house baked salted chicken 7/10 (regular chicken , not free range) tasted kinda bland and tough.

This was for me and my fiance with leftovers to go, we tend to always over order. Came to about $80? I forgot

I should clarify the whole regular menu was expensive, ie. specialty caterpiller roll (standard avocado wrapped roll)was 16.95. anything outside the lunch special menu (the box i ordered was the cheapest) california rolls are 4.95 and half the size, stuff like the bento box dinners were 18.95 and up...about the same price as AYCE .....that's what i mean by expensive. and anyways there's a seperate thread for mcdonald's :p

Sandbar

Dragon boat appetizer plate was ok, nothing bad about it but the appy's on it such as the spring rolls and calamari felt sort of generic 7.5/10

Sablefish was excellent as always though 9/10

Pourhouse 6/10 I loved this place for their portion size and comfortable atmosphere, its now to yuppie and the portions are a joke, will not a return.
Kirin New west 7/10 I wish i was a bigger dim sum guru, but that kirin rocks compared to most of them.

Senna4ever 12-07-2010 12:06 AM

I-Cafe on Broadway & Heather - 4/10

My first time (and last) going to a Hong Kong style cafe. Everything I ordered was highly disappointing.

bcrdukes 12-07-2010 12:09 AM

Such a terrible way to start and to end an experience.

Sucks to hear. I went there a few times about a year ago and it was really good, liked the 1920/30's style environment as well.

Kawawa Japanese restaurant metro

Had the beef tough ramen. Broth was good. Beef was excellent. Kind of slow and a little on the cold side for me. Would eat at again if I was in the mall. 7.5/10

it was not that bad a long time ago but when I visited icafe in the summer, well lets just say the banana milkshake was good but the meat was cold

I suggest to you that you should not go to anymore hongkong cafes based on ONE resteraunt... I suggest Lido i think on alderbridge for GOOD AND REAL hongkong stuff

I think he meant beef tongue ramen.

ilvtofu 12-07-2010 10:49 PM

Gyo-O, meant to go g-men but they were closed so went here instead

7/10

Tried the takoyaki bukkake and the nabeyaki udon.
Udon was okay bukkake wasn't great though, a little too bland

And overall the place is expensive and the tables/menus were also sticky which was a bit of a turnoff

Deer Garden
Malaysian Curry Beef Brisket - 7/10.

Their milk tea was pretty tasty - sweetened condensed milk deserves a solid 8.5/10

TRDood 12-08-2010 12:08 AM

Bro, that place sucks major balls. I can make better ramen with instant noodles.

If you think that's good, go downtown for ramen and it will melt your tongue.

I'd rank it a "DO NOT PATRONIZE". Waste of money. Although I guess it works in a quick fix, but I'd rather go to T&T and buy some cup noodles soaked in cold water.

Razor Ramon HG 12-08-2010 12:24 AM

Had lunch sushi AYCE at Toyama downtown, and for $12 bucks, you can't really complain.

Food came out fast, and tasted good. I think they put some weed in it though because halfway through my meal, I couldn't stop laughing :lol
