Riiiiiiiiiight.

That was clearly Gillis overpaying just to bribe Sundin over. And he had to make sure he was willing to spend more than what other teams could offer.
If it was for a player with less demand, I don't see it hard to imagine. I don't know will Gillis give him a crap contract, but I can see him being cheap on players he doesn't seem to care about. At least that's what Gillis' has been showing. He doesn't feel like it's neccessary to lock down anyone right now.

Maybe it's just a strategy to keep things low key, or Gillis really just has no idea what he wants to do with the team, as to who he wants to keep or not.

Soundy 09-25-2008 09:20 AM

Why would he be "cheap" with "players he doesn't seem to care about"? Why wouldn't he just move them? Trade them or let them go? Wouldn't that be cheaper?

Try making a little sense, mmmkay? See my sig for more info...

Same experience, I went to my first game last year and there were multiple fights throughout the game. This one dood got wailed on HARD for about 2 minutes before security game. Needless to say, it wasn't a great experience haha.

oh yea yea makes sense..

are all canucks sportsnet broadcasts "Canucks TV" now?

This might not apply for Ohlund, because I don't know what Gillis has in store for him.

but there are 3 cases:
1)The guy is good, I must have him. overpay and offer him 20mil.
2)The guy is good, but I can probably replace him. offer contract, maybe it's lowball, doesn't matter. if he takes it, good, if not, let him go. Find someone else.
3)The guy is good, but he's not someone we need to build the team around, or he has no more purpose in Gillis' plans. No contract negotiations. simply trade or let him go.

So guys, which do you prefer, games on sportsnet or games on tsn?

to be honest, after watching games on tsn, and then going back to
spac games, i get pretty disappointed.. TSN puts up such a good broadcast
with all the bells n whistles. I wish sportsnet would do something similar..
1 up 1 down, i wanna see that in all the games.

the_rickster 09-25-2008 03:36 PM

i dont know why, but im loyal to sportsnet.

trdees 09-25-2008 03:45 PM

its cuz they have canucks colours

AX.Deadpool 09-25-2008 03:49 PM

haha I'm loyal to sportsnet too. but i think they should pick up there
production value. TSN broadcasts are even better then the PPV broadcasts..

I don't really want to watch Kirk Mclean talk for the full intermission..

Harvey Specter 09-25-2008 04:07 PM

TSN = Toronto Sports Network. I prefer Sportsnet as well. Hopefully the PPV HD quality will be good. I'm not really expecting much in terms of quality.

Hondaracer 09-25-2008 04:17 PM

the TSN product is miles ahead of sportsnet in every cattegory imo

and the Analysts are 100 times better too

Anything else > Kyprios

AX.Deadpool 09-25-2008 04:31 PM

As long as Sportsnet broadcasts stuff like this, I'll be a happy man

I really enjoy the Canucks content on Sportsnet. But when it comes to production value TSN does it better in every way. Their HD puts Sportsnets to shame!

haha, that's awesome
on ice stuff we've seen enough.
Let's start seeing some off-ice drama.

sometimes I really wish viewers got a chance to see what happens in the locker room in between periods for certain games.

The reason why I like sportsnet is because of the regional coverage. But yeah. TSN blows sportsnet away with their hockey panel.

Not really racist! 09-25-2008 05:20 PM

no offense but...

the canucks tv sucks shit..

It's even worse this year since Tasha Chiu won't be doing the PPV games.
