We only have 1 Major professional sports team in this city, even if they do tank, they will not have a hard time filling up seats.

In comparison, as bad as the grizzlies were back in the mid 90's to early 2000s, they always managed to fill more than 10,000 seats, and that's basketball with no real history nor success in this city. Memphis, on the other hand, is averaging less capacity than we ever did. Karma, I tell you.

Ikkaku 09-24-2008 03:41 PM

it was good times watching the grizzlies... despite losing each night, it was entertaining to watch nonetheless. The atmosphere is what makes it all worth it. So what if we had a losing team? It was an opportunity to see crazy players from other teams do their stuff.

carisear 09-24-2008 04:02 PM

grizz gave away a shitload of free tix to pump up early season numbers.

and if the canucks tank again this year, you will see our long-sellout-streak come to an end.

At this point in time, and the past few years, the BC Lions are where it's at. And hopefully in 2011, the MLS Whitecaps will be rockin'!! THAT will be sweet!

Harvey Specter 09-24-2008 04:16 PM

I would hate to say Ohlund leave but it was bound to happen. New GM means new players and I wouldn't be surprised if more players are traded or let go next summer.

Hondaracer 09-24-2008 04:25 PM

lol, i'd way rather go watch the Griz lose on a nightly basis then the BC lions personally..

anyways anyone have any good pool resources or picked up any good pool guide mag's?

i'm looking to buy somthing that has alot of in-depth info, not just the typical hockey news stats one

Harvey Specter 09-24-2008 04:31 PM

BC Lions are actually pretty fun to watch and the CFL has greatly improved over the years.

Hondaracer 09-24-2008 04:43 PM

I went to 2 BC lions games this season and both time me and my friends had confrontations 100% provoked by full grown dirt-ball adults.

personally I'd recomend against my siblings going, let alone people bringing young children etc.

the place is packed with skids.

Lol, so true. The crowd is pretty rough, it's been like that for years. I remember going with my dad a few years back and people would be fighting and throwing beer all over the place.

bossxx 09-24-2008 05:46 PM

Ohlund hasn't talked about a new deal yet? Who cares. It's not decision time for another year. I swear ppl always have to try and stir the pot. Ohlund is one of our best guys and he plays a lot of minutes. I don't see Gillis moving Ohlund at all.

Pretty much, especially if you're cheering for the other team. I'm a die hard football fan I love the CFL. When I lived in Regina my dad and I went to every game. I refuse to watch games at BC place even if the Riders are here because of all the idiots. I also would not take my son to a game here, BC place security is an oxymoron.

I went to a few Lions games in Calgary last summer and each time there were more than a handful of fights in the crowd.......saw one guy get thrown 3 rows down and then fed knuckle sandwiches :eek1:

68style 09-24-2008 06:36 PM

I don't know what you guys do when you go to games but I've been to countless Lions games and never been in a confrontation............ maybe stop walking around looking all hard and stuff? LOL

nsmb 09-24-2008 07:21 PM

Nothing like that, I'd like to consider myself a mature adult most of the time. It comes down to the fact that it only takes a few idiots to spoil the experience for someone else and I always seem to run into those few idiots. It's not worth the trouble I'll watch it from the confines of my home not to mention BC place is such a shitty stadium and a bad atmosphere for football.

hypediss 09-24-2008 08:43 PM

its tsn... and ohlund is just stating whats really happening neway .. no talks as of yet.. i wouldnt put much speculation about him leaving..

iPee 09-24-2008 09:03 PM

yea even though grizzles were a losing team
they were exciting to watch and played with heart

hotjoint 09-24-2008 09:30 PM

damn, hope ohlund doesnt leave

carisear 09-24-2008 10:18 PM

The only time there are fights, are when the 'riders are in town. Sask has a **HUGE** following, and they usually get drunk. there aren't many fights inthe stands, and the police usually act quickly.

if you see people being a dick in the stands, call their hotline, and they'll send security/a cop down right away to make sure it's fun for everyone.

lions games are great -- me and my dad have lots of fun.

but back onto hockey, as much as i hate to say it, i hope we tank BAD this season -- not for the draft pick, but to wake the organization up. increasing ticket prices 50% in two years -- when we've had a SHIT TEAM that didn't even make the playoffs? that's BS.

Fak, Mosaic needs a hotline like that tho... how about them beer cans this past weekend???

Holy crap, don't ever go to a CFL game in Regina unless you're wearing a hardhat and a raincoat!

b0unce. [?] 09-25-2008 06:22 AM

Gillis will try and keep ohlie here, but him being cheap will probably toss him a crap contract where its comparable to spitting in his face...
something like that will happen
