I understand that but c'mon this is just getting ridiculous. Does he even want to play hockey? Correct me if I'm wrong but is the roster freeze tomorrow? I have a feeling he will wait till the 27th to make his choice.

If he does end up in NY, I hope he fails (just because) and be criticized out of there then force to retire after cuz noone would want him. Just like messier was with us.

We don't know the full story behind Sundin, but he's really starting to sound like a chump. A far cry from the guy we honoured last night. I hope the Rangers get him and he ends up to be another dud.

Poker Stars

Can mods ban anymore Sundin updates until he's finally signed? These weekly/monthly updates since August has been such a joke to the fans.

SumAznGuy 12-18-2008 08:40 AM

So in the end, Sundin wants to play in NY but it is still about the money or else he would play for next to nothing. Good thing Gilles set the bar so high with his $10M/year offer.

So sad for Sundin to be like that.

In regards to the jersey retiring, I think Naslund might get his jersey retired in the future as he is the team's all time leading scorer. I don't see Bure getting his, but not because of the fallout with the team and city. Look at Roy. He and the team had a fall out, and in the end they still retired his number and he claims he is home.

In my opinion, when you retire someone's number, they have to represent the team. When you think of Linden, you think of Canucks.
When you think of Gretzkey, you think of Oilers, Kings, and maybe NYR.
When you think of Bure, you think of the Russian rocket.
When you think of Sundin, you think of a big fat jerk. I hate you Sundin. Why do you have to do this to us. I vouched for you. I beat up everyone that made fun of you and the Leafs. We are your booty call.

Gumby 12-18-2008 09:00 AM

This Sundin crap is pissing me off. If the Canucks are your second choice, I don't want you here. :flamemad:

When's the next meeting between our team and the Rangers? I would go to that game and throw a salmon at the bastard.

Booing Bettman at Linden's retirement event will be nothing compared to the treatment Sundin will get as a NY Ranger in our building. I'm starting to believe those people who say the 10 million per year offer was just some sick ploy to up the stakes. Gillis was, after all, an agent. Once a pimp, always a pimp. LOL.

wow that ceremony was hard to watch...
yup.. going to miss watching him play! the tribute video was awsome :D
 stupid weather, making my eyes water

Ikkaku 12-18-2008 10:49 AM

Was it me or did they boo at Luongo as well? :lol

I couldn't leave my seat during the entire ceremony, and it was hard not to tear up... especially remembering '94.

MG1 12-18-2008 10:52 AM

FYI, if any of you weren't at the game and want a little something, Budget Brake and Muffler is giving out the little booklets they handed out at yesterday's game. I just got mine. It's only 16 pages (wow), but has a pull out pic of Trevor.

Has anyone seen the Forever Faithful DVD? Is it really that bad? I was thinking of using my Save-On-Foods points to get it.

EDIT: someone mentioned a Trevor Linden DVD. Is that just a rumour, or does one exist? I was under the impression it was like a freebie from one of the Canucks' sponsors.

Luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

For the uninitiated, the sound is not a boo, but a Lu. Short for Luongo, the captain of the Vancouver Canucks.

It's an opportunity for people like Gary Bettman, the commissioner of the NHL, to convince themselves that it was indeed a Luuuuuuuuuu......... and not a Boooooooo...........

Haha damn...I'm shocked people still think he's being booed. Especially if you're fortunate enough to have tickets to the Linden tribute ceremony/jersey retirement one would assume you know the "Louuuuu" chant.

Yeah, I noticed Luongo was not into the celebration too much. Could be just me.

What I really want is the photo of Trevor hugging Captain Kirk, "The original Goalie/Captain" for the Canucks.

Ikkaku 12-18-2008 11:12 AM

Perhaps I was talking when they first started with the "L" sound, and the first thing I noticed was the "oooooooooooooooooo" which I associated with booooo.

I really liked the portion with the kids wearing all the different jerseys of teams Linden had previously played with. It was also funny seeing how Gino Odjick looks even more like an ogre these days.

Hondaracer 12-18-2008 11:13 AM

lol @ odjick getting a louder cheer then Smyl..

imo Lindens number should be the only number in the rafters.

For the average Joe who doesn't know about it, it always sounds like booing.

And I have to say it's the crappiest cheer for a player... it always sounds like booing. Don't know how it got started, but it sucks.

Same here. That is my all time favorite picture and one day I will buy an autographed one. They were selling it last night as well but it was $600 something although it was massive, even way bigger then the one I bought which was already big.

trip 12-18-2008 12:10 PM

game on sports at metrotown has two for sale. larger one is $400 and the smaller one is around 250-300.

i'd buy it up quicktime if i had money, especially with a 40% off hookup from a friend
