Alright, bitches, now the fun begins... wife's out with a friend for coffee, some jerkwad is parked in our nicely cleared parking space on the street (one of maybe three on the whole block)... I'm gonna go out and bury the fucker, and I'm gonna set my camera up on a time-lapse to record the whole thing. Video and stills to come later - enjoy!

LsquareD 01-04-2009 12:58 AM

Mugen EvOlutioN 01-04-2009 01:20 AM

yoyoyoyo so anyone wonna tell me wtf is going on??

yes we got quite a bit of snow this winter season, but why the fuck hasnt the snow plowing truck plow my street nor my gf's house.

A lot of smaller streets still hasnt been touched, and same with major roads (say 3 lane, only 2 lane is clear). Now dont give me the bs that they cant keep up. from the last big snow fall till yesterday it had like a week gap in between if not more. And i dont see all these snow plowing trucks all over town, i hardly see any compare to the past couple years.

And i pay a shit load of taxes ? For wat? fuck this

Soundy 01-04-2009 01:23 AM

You know why the side streets don't get plowed? Because nobody digs their cars out and just leaves them burried, and/or parks them a foot from the curb, and since Vancouver side streets are no more than 4 feet wide to begin with, there's not enough room for a plow to get through most of them.

Add to that, the fact that if they DID plow, it would further bury all those lazy fucks who didn't dig their own cars out in the first place, and instead of whining about the street not being plowed, they'd be whining instead about not being able to find their cars anymore.

Soundy 01-04-2009 01:30 AM

Well, it turned out to be not quite as epic as hoped - the thing is parked with passenger-side wheels up on the sidewalk, which gives a bunch of extra ground clearance. Fortunately, they did nose right up against the huge snowbank in front, so they have no room to go forward. Also fortunately, the temp is rising and the snow is getting wet and heavy and easy to pack... so I jammed as much as I could under the chassis and packed it up solid under the running boards fully in between the front and back wheels. If it drops a little bit and freezes at all tonight, that should make for a really fun time for them getting out tomorrow.

Video to come later, I need to nap now... that was hard work.

man fuck those lazy ass basterds, they are the minority. If they dont bother to drive and leave it buried for the winter, so be it...thats their fucking problem.
i just cant believe how many side streets have been UNTOUCHED, like absolutely untouched since the first snow fall till today, which is like wat? fucking 2-3 weeks ago god damn

What they need is a mini plow like my neighbor has. He cleared out our block and alley too.. just dumped the snow where ever there's room. Too bad there there's an equally awesome asshat who decided his property line extended into the alley and parked his shit there.

Soundy 01-04-2009 02:10 AM

In places that get snow regularly, there are designated "snow days", where parking is prohibited on a certain side of the street on certain days when there's snow... like one side of the street, might be all odd-numbered days, no parking during daytime hours if there's more than a certain amount of snow. Offenders are ticketed, and towed if possible. This is done specifically to ensure the plows can get through and clear more than just a single lane through the middle of all the parked cars.

(Now it's just waiting for some RSer to say, "Hey, that's my car!")

hypediss 01-04-2009 02:31 AM

i wonder if the hose still works in this kinda weather.. if it does ill make sure those chunks of snow stick to the car and the front too!

Ch28 01-04-2009 02:39 AM

weak!

the least you could have done was pack the snow into the back as well

go outside and pour a couple buckets of water on the car and the surrounding snow

Soundy 01-04-2009 03:02 AM

Hose works, if it's not frozen solid itself ;)

Unfortunately it's just above freezing, so I don't think water would help a whole lot (not for making things icy, anyway.

I'd have loved to build a huge pile behind it, but it was 2-freakin'-AM, and I'm old and tired, and I shoveled as much of the shit as I could manage.

I DID, however, leave a nice big printed note on the windshield, "TOO LAZY TO SHOVEL YOUR OWN SPACE?"

I think what's there will settle and pack nicely on its own by morning, and give them some sufficient headaches.

CaptFiero 01-04-2009 04:51 AM

Well Road update, 104th Ave in Surrey is clear, 176st at Trans Canada is mostly clear. Trans Canada from 200th street to 160th street is clear. However 92a and 200th street area is a crap fest. Doesn't look like a plow has been anywhere near it. So its pretty much the same as everywhere else. Main roads have been plowed and salted, side streets are a bitch. This was at 5:30am Sunday Morning.

yeah i agree... weak old man! :D

being a 4WD SUV i doubt the driver would even notice your effort :(

i don't recommend adding any more snow just because after it leaves, you'll just have to shovel out your parking space again :thumbsdn:

i do like the water suggestion though... even though your hose is frozen, use a container of some sort. splash liberally over all glass areas and door locks/keyholes, let freeze overnight and enjoy in the morning

or just gather up all the snow on your property and build a big ass snowman on the hood :haha:

(sorry... i'm starting to have cabin fever because of the snow stranding me indoors)

CaptFiero 01-04-2009 05:57 AM

Even more fun, go get a a syringe not the drug kind, but the kind you would use to feed a small animal. Fill it with cold water, then go out and squirt as much water as you can into his door locks. Maybe do one better, heat up some table syrup, then quickly take it out to the car and squirt that in the locks. When the syrup cools, it will turn his locks into a gooey mess from hell. Hope he's got keyless, as those locks will be messed up for a long time.

listening to the morning news on the radio today. they had a soundbyte from someone representing the vancouver maint. yard and he said that their crews have been working 24/7 since the snow started falling before xmas, and they are all tapped out. because the temps are going up and rain is being forecast, they are just going to let the snow wash out/melt instead of plowing/sanding. most of the plows are getting parked and the focus is now on clearing out storm drains because when all this rain hits everyone is going to get flooded.

also they have to divert manpower back towards garbage pickup. our last pickup was dec 16th... it was only yesterday (yes on a saturday!) before they came to collect. garbage truck couldn't come into the back lane so they had a 4x4 works truck with chains on all 4 wheels go through the lane with a 4 man crew and started dumping everything into the truck, then when it was full they went back to the waiting garbage truck and unloaded, then repeat.

as for taxes... overtime is like $40/60hr apparently, and the city has been paying this out since before xmas. can't wait to see what the budget is going to be like after this winter. keep an eye on your property taxes

Heh...Soundy - if you lived near me, I totally would have come out to help. I hate the mofos who take advantage of other people's work. Having to have move a large bank of snow around myself, it takes a LOT of work to do, and to have some asshole take it just because they're too lazy to do it would piss me off too. Hell, I've shovelled tracks in the back lane so I can get out and people have parked right on the tracks so nobody could get out.

What would have been even better would have been to chock the wheels with bricks or a large piece of wood then cover it with snow. :D They'd have to dig out all the snow to see why they couldn't move. :D

Just throw a fish on their car so they learn their lesson haha, at least i would because i would be hella choked if somebody took my spot after i digged it out.

Edit: Some douche bag took my dads spot in front of my house even after I put chairs in the way to reserve it for him. -.-'

you should have packed snow on the key holes or around the doors so that it would freeze over night :D

lilaznviper 01-04-2009 10:11 AM
