the 14 game road trip isn't as bad as people make it out to be

the canucks get a 2 week break half way through the trip so they'll be able to rest up

Actually it will be interesting since the Canucks who will be representing their countries are at home in Vancouver. First time in recent history where the Winter Olympics are in a city with a NHL team!

Hondaracer 07-17-2009 03:05 PM

whats worse then the 14 game road trip is the 8 straight games at home.

I know Kes got picked for the USA selection camp but who got invited to the Team Canada Olympic camp?

Who else from the Nucks were invited to the Olympics besides Lu and Kes.
I assume Salo, the twins, Edler?

Ronin 07-17-2009 08:08 PM

Kesler maybe on Team USA?

Sedins for sure... I think I saw somewhere that Edler was invited to the camp..

What about Grabner? Austria isn't exactly stacked so I wouldn't be surprised if he makes the team.

Austria didn't even qualify for the Olympics so that rules him out.

why are some americans playing for team Canada in the Olympics?

Shouldn't Lu be playing for USA?

Where you're born determines who you play for. The one exception I can think of was Brett Hull, born in Ontario but played for the USA team. Luongo is from Montreal.

68style 07-18-2009 08:48 PM

Hull only did it out of spite because Team Canada didn't invite him to play when he was young

Owen Nolan, born in Ireland, represented Canada
Olaf Kolzig, born in South Africa, represented Germany

It has more to do with which country you hold a citizenship with, not necessarily where you were born.

Edit: You can also count Paul DiPietro. Born in Canada but got Swiss citizenship and plays for their national team.

!Nhan 07-18-2009 09:20 PM

And one of the biggest names for international hockey for team Canada, Dany Heatly. He was born in Germany of all places, but he holds dual citizenship because his father was Canadian but played hockey in the German league.
