Is there a way to make the clock on the lock screen a 12 hour clock?

It looks like it's linked to the system clock (see top right). I would suspect that if you set that to 12-hour, you'll have what you want.

And as for people that are wondering if this will ever hit Rogers- it will. Samsung's strategy is to saturate the market with their phones across as many carriers as they can. They did it with the original SGS, and they'll do it with the SGS2.

What you should be questioning is not whether Rogers will carry it, but when since it took Rogers months to release the Captivate after the initial Bell release (the Vibrant).

Heard a lot small problems in S2 from oversea...such as weak wifi reception, battery life...etc.

I would really wait for Rogers to carry it.

Just for warranty backup.

gdoh 06-19-2011 07:58 PM

i wish they would release news for rogers =[

asian_XL 06-19-2011 08:01 PM

The feeling can never be as good as iphone. It doesn't feel so solid.

but hey, it has the least radiation in the recent lab test along with some other phones.
I'd buy one if the price drops.

!Yaminashi 06-19-2011 08:01 PM

Man I really wish they would not put glossy black plastic everywhere.
That crap scratches so fast

gdoh 06-19-2011 08:06 PM

According to Samsung....wait time is 3 weeks if you drop an order for 300$ deposit....which sound BS..... Just like apple selling their iPhone ...

- The Wifi icon shows a weaker than normal signal, but speed are not compromised. I can easily top out my home internet connection. My Wifi connection icon shows one bar less than my other devices.

- As for battery life, after about 10 charge cycles, I get about 18-20hrs on a single charge (depends on how CPU intensive my daily tasks are). I average roughly 2hrs of "screen on time".
a) I'm on a custom ROM at stock speeds. Unfortunately, I never kept the stock ROM long enough to compare with stock ROM's battery life. But I don't think the custom ROM would make too big of a difference

Another thing to note is that Android currently has a bug with dual-core processors, which is causing the phone to not enter "suspend mode" while the screen is off. My "awake time" graph shows the phone is awake for extended periods of time even while the screen is off. ("Awake time" should almost match the "display on" time). So there is definitely something weird going on there.

The good news is that Google has supposedly fixed this in 2.3.4, which should be coming to the SGS2 in the next month or so. I anticipate battery life to be even better in the future.

Anybody know which version to get it to work with Rogers 3G? I have an uncle in Korea coming to visit, I want to make sure which model to purchase before asking him to buy me one.

RR33 06-20-2011 11:16 PM

All SGS2 should be quad band hspda.

MarkyMark 06-21-2011 01:31 AM

Funny thing is Rogers announced the Samsang Galaxy S Infuse 4G coming this summer, which seems odd if they plan to bring in the Galaxy S2 too. The infuse is pretty much a jacked up Captivate...still not dual core so it would be disappointing if thats all they get.

VK79 06-21-2011 02:24 AM

Need a new toy to fiddle with while waiting for ip5.

Anyone know if it is confirmed no 32g for SGS2 or released at a later date? Feeling so blocked with the stupid space constrain of the ip4.

!MiKrofT 06-21-2011 11:10 AM

Doesn't matter. Just slap in a microsd card

I find it hard to believe Samsung would release a single core variant for their flagship device.

There are rumors of a Tegra2 variant, but one has yet to surface.

Gerbs 06-21-2011 02:21 PM

fuck... sucks how ssg 3 is coming next year. =/

Would you guys get a 2 or 3 year plan

Not enough, got a 64 ipt and am currently sitting at ~6gb free space, so need a 32+32 phone at the very least.
