Lols, you mean like last time for the Captivate launch?
OMG, that was terribad. They got hammered on Red Board.

striderblade 06-29-2011 07:23 PM

So how does one on contract already get this phone for cheap? Do i just cancel my current contract with bell and do a resign? I just signed with them like last oct.

You can't just cancel your contract with consequences. You can try hardware upgrade but I doubt they'll give you much since you're still working at paying off your current phone.

gdoh 06-30-2011 05:53 AM

call in and ask if your eligible for a hardware upgrade then use your words to get best deal =]

I will really soon, just got it yesterday. Testing it out still.

k2_alpha 06-30-2011 12:58 PM

confirmed to launch with Bell on the 14

jeff19 06-30-2011 01:43 PM

any word on whether it will be unlocked out of the box?

m3thods 06-30-2011 02:06 PM

I don't think any of the original SGS offerings were carrier unlocked, so I highly doubt the SGS2 would be.

Vale46Rossi 06-30-2011 02:22 PM

If you want one that is factory unlocked and you are with bell.

There's a place that sells it local now on contract. It's factory unlocked too because the authorized retailer brought it in themself.

hongy 06-30-2011 02:51 PM

Where is that?

jeff19 06-30-2011 04:50 PM

^ was $700 couple days ago there. i'll prolly wait until its out on bell as someone's bound to write a free unlock app for it like last time. just a matter of time..

I'm looking forward to see how this stacks up against the new HTC Sensation and Motorola Droid Bionic. Both dual core 1ghz+ phones.

Here's a comparison on SGS2 vs Sensation:
http://www.techradar.com/news/phone-...1874?artc_pg=1

IMO, specs wise, the Sensation can't compete with the SGS2. However, some people swear by HTC Sense UI, and that may be enough for people to pick the Sensation over the SGS2.

jeff19 06-30-2011 09:11 PM

^ yah been looking at comparisons vids between the two and snapdragons really can't match the speed of samsung's exonys chips. the only advantage the sensation has is its build quality and some ppl prefer the sense UI.

skip to 7:10 for day to day usage speed tests.

Sir_Loin 06-30-2011 09:26 PM

Just picked up the phone from craigslist for $630. Coming from Nexus One then Nexus S this phone is by far the fastest android out now. Loving the screen and the speed of the phone. Debating on whether to root the phone or wait till better roms come out.

SkinnyPupp 06-30-2011 09:29 PM

I played around with one of these yesterday at a store. It seemed really laggy and slow considering the specs.

probably due to bloatware

Yeah you'd need to strip it down for sure. One thing about HTC phones is that while Sense is big, it's not as bloated and slow as Samsung or LG's software (or Sony lol)
