If the SGSII pre order system is ANYTHING like the Nexus S set up they had going. I'd stay far far away.

1) They said I could buy it outright
2) There were no set in stone release dates so I didn't even get one when everyone had it released
3) The refused to sell it to me at the counter because I wasn't renewing a contract

I would assume activation fees wouldn't apply as there is no new number being set up.

Anyone know any Bell stores or resellers that might have a working demo of the SGS2 when its out?

You can do that but the rep will have to change the IMEI on your buddies account.

As your buddy is buying a new phone outright to put on "his account" he has to pay a $35 new handset fee.

Pretty much all corporate stores will have demo July 14.
Some bigger ones will have 2-3

gdoh 07-12-2011 05:32 AM

they are saying that there is a 60 day hold on them b4 they can sell the phone outright

When Bell announced they’ll be one of the carriers who will release the Samsung Galaxy S II 4G they never confirmed a launch date, only that it will be available “in the coming weeks”. Carriers usually state this just in case there are shipping issues or problems meeting software tests. Rumours surfaced over the past few weeks of a July 14th release, but we are now hearing the launch date is officially set for Thursday, July 21st. Apparently us Canadians will be getting the latest software and Bell wants to ensure that enough supply is available. The internal doc we received says that Bell is “anticipating very strong demand for the device”. Samsung recently announced that worldwide sales of this Android has topped 3 million in just 55 days. This will be available for $599.95 on a no-contract and we’re still waiting for the other price points.

More soon!
(Thanks to everyone who sent this in!)

I just had my SGS2 activated today, and the guy did it all for free. Changed the IMEI or whatever it's call too. We shot the shit for a while, I let him check the phone out a bit. He didn't even charge me for a SIM.

Oleophobic 07-13-2011 07:05 AM

lol is there any way of getting them to sell me it? Like finding a rep who's lenient/doesn't know what he's doing? I'm an existing Bell customer too not that they would care I don't think

Psykopathik 07-13-2011 07:57 AM

Slip him a $20 ;)

anyways does this phone work on Wind?

djstyles 07-13-2011 08:17 AM

Just picked up the SGS s2 last night. Been playing around with this and the reviews are spot on, this phone is fast. It also doesnt seem as thin in the pics as it does in person. Also much lighter than my SGS 1

No corporate stores have the Bell version of S2 yet.
The S2 you bought is not the Bell version. (Not that it matters much)
You bought the phone through a dealer.
Dealers have more leeway on discounts as the dealer takes the hit instead of Bell.

It shouldn't work. It doesn't have the 1700 AWS band support.

Where did you get yours?

djstyles 07-13-2011 11:08 AM

^ I got mine off of a guy on craigslist. It cost me $750 but doing that Bell loophole thing would've cost me the same. He has another one that is brand new in box and unlocked/unbranded and said hes willing to let it go for $730. If anyones interested pm me and ill send u his contact info.

$750 for a $600 phone that can easily be ordered online?

!MiKrofT 07-13-2011 11:37 AM

Yeah $750 is overpriced.

SkinnyPupp 07-13-2011 11:44 AM

You paid an extra $150 for literally nothing

gdoh 07-13-2011 11:54 AM

FS: Samsung Galaxy S II i9100 unlocked $677

lol you got duped buddy. last time i paid more than $700 for a phone was when i bought my n95 back in 2008 LOL. never again.

djstyles 07-13-2011 12:21 PM

The $677 at mobiledna is before tax, I called them and asked. $677 with tax would be $758 unless they were willing to do cash no tax, which I was told no. I suppose I could've gotten it for less but i'm an impatient person and wanted it that same day. Whatever the case I still think it was worth it, maybe next time ill just be a little more patient.
