Does anyone else have this problem? I get it when I tried to update to Resurrection and Hydrogen.

Make sure you're not restoring system data as well.

bobola 04-08-2012 10:51 PM

I'm getting miss call with Resurrection...
Work and friend call me and I never received the call..
Only been few days tho.

SMS works perfectly fine!

Could be it be ROM or faildo.. fido...

!Yaminashi 04-08-2012 11:55 PM

I've only been on this rom for about a couple days and my usage varies.
But right now I'm sitting at about 46 percent battery life, and I have roughly 14 hours of usage

dyan 04-08-2012 11:58 PM

Still waiting for a finely tuned ICS rom.. or when checkrom makes one.

Rather stick to fine tuned GB > ICS atm.

!Yaminashi 04-09-2012 12:28 AM

Give hydrogen ICS a shot. IMO its the best there is, and if you dont like it you can always fall back onto your nandroid backup.
Once you've had ICS its hard to go back to GB

Ok ill try that. Thanks a lot!

Is there a reason though? If I don't restore system data, I lose my Memos and some other important settings. Is this the only way?

Gh0stRider 04-10-2012 07:28 PM

i hate ics...back to gingerbread i go

dyan 04-10-2012 07:29 PM

^
+1 lol finely tuned gingerbread is awesome.. still better than buggy ICS atm.

Gh0stRider 04-10-2012 07:33 PM

im so glad i did a backup before trying out ics. ics lasted 10-15 mins before i went back.

didn't like the UI, or the MTP file transfer

!Yaminashi 04-10-2012 07:41 PM

Whats buggy for you guys? Hydrogen is flawless for me

davy 04-10-2012 08:29 PM

I will need to try Hydrogen. Liten'ing Rom sucks.

davy 04-10-2012 08:38 PM

Somehow I can't find the links to download HyDr0G3N ICS ROM.

EDIT: NM Found it!

I just switched to Hydrogen over the official samsung LPQ. So far so good but I haven't had much time to play around with it. I love all the customization in it though. This is what I had imagined an ICS upgrade be like.

Also not sure if you're aware but ICS still has the normal file transfer. You just have to do an extra step before connecting the cable. (I forget what it is because Hydrogen does it automatically but it's in the settings then you have to find the connect to usb button)

As for the UI the samsung ICS looks pretty much identical to the GB one...

davy 04-11-2012 09:52 AM

For those using the Hydrogen, do you guys have the camera.apk that would enable the volume button as a "shoot" button?

Mine does it automatically. I just have to hit connect USB after I plug in the cable

hmm maybe i should give hydr0gen a try.

only way to install ics is to wipe data/cache and system right?

Yeah give it a shot, I'm pretty picky when it comes to roms. The first ICS rom I tried was resurrection remix and there were alot of little noticeable bugs but I havent seen any of them in Hydrogen so far.

Just make sure you follow the instructions for installation and you'll be fine. But like I said I havent run into any problems, but so many people on XDA seem to have issues:confused:

davy 04-17-2012 02:32 PM

I'm having problems rotating the screen. You guys having that issue?

Nevermind. Just re-calibrated and now it works normal. :D

Because you're doing a major upgrade from 2.3.x to 4.x. The underlying stuff will be different.

Gh0stRider 04-17-2012 03:43 PM

using the foxhound ics rom now. seems ok

i dunno about the battery life though

6 months later I'm back to the SGS2! Feels good to be back! Missed the size and build of this phone. Nexus had an awkward feel to it.

I've got some catching up to do with ROMS and the ICS update.

Lol. Congratulations I guess? Build quality is the same although it feels like the nexus is slightly better. I'd miss the higher resolution though.

Haha no need for congrats...It's personal preference I guess and a change.

I misspoke when I said build quality for they're probably the same throughout the Galaxy line up; however form and function varies between the models.

I've been reminded that the Galaxy S2 is light as a feather whereas the Galaxy Nexus has some weight to it.

I also felt that I would miss the resolution but changing the DPI on the SGS2 will allow me to have that crisp clean look similar to that of the Nexus. Although resolution is better on the Nexus, I can see a big difference between the Super AMOLED plus and Super AMOLED screens. SGS2 has better contrast and overall wet look to the screen that was missing in my Nexus.

I also went for the white version this time which I'm pretty excited for. It's eye catching and will stand out from the other SGS2's in my opinion.

This is a temporary move however. Just waiting for the HTC One S to come out; I hope that will remind me of my Nexus One that I loved (the phone that sold me on Android!)

!MiKrofT 04-22-2012 10:15 AM

I think I'd probably choose the gs3 over the htc. But I'll know better by May 3rd.

Let's be honest, we'll probably have both phones at one point by the end of July. My plan is by the end of April/May when the SGS3 gets announced, the HTC One S will be out and affordable and that initial inflation will be gone.

And then in June/July, the SGS3 inflation will be gone but I have a feeling that the SGS3 will be another Nexus (minor improvements without any major revamps.)
