who did you deal with?

i dont know what i prefer a fully unlocked sg2 with no warranty

or a bell loaded sg2 with warranty (void once you root it...LOL)

fsy82 07-05-2011 04:03 PM

im thinking about switching to a samsung after being a loyal bb customer for the last 4yrs.

LiquidTurbo 07-05-2011 09:00 PM

^ cool story bro! ;)

haha, but yea, Samsung looks like they are gonna woo others with this phone. While it's not perfect, at this rate, the SSG3 would be amazing?

jeff19 07-05-2011 09:16 PM

just picked up a brand new one off craigslist for $630.

first impressions, wish it wasnt so wide, but the thin-ness more than makes up for it. if you thought the iphone was thin, this feels much thinner. phone is hella fast, high quality 3d live wallpapers are now useable with no lag at all. what impresses the most is how fast everything is especially web browsing.. with a full flash website, it's still buttery smooth, even more so than the iphone i would say.. overall im truly impressed. sick sick phone....this is as good as it gets lol.

on a side note, this phone was bought from mobileDNA and came in some ukranian language (same with box text). chinese is not supported out of the box.

Use gmail to store contacts as for email im not to sure if its with google then you just sign in on the Android device and it syncs all the contacts on your gmail account. You can also choose to store your contacts in your sim and later do a sim import on Android.

How would I go about transferring my BB contacts to the Samsung? Does the Samsung support Push email like the BB does?

jeff19 07-06-2011 09:50 AM

Shitty thing about android is that only gmail supports push. Normal email accounts retrieve mail at set times. So you would have to forward all ur mail to a gmail account in order to use push.

that shouldnt be a problem since my work email is forwarded to my gmail account

I set my email to poll every 5 mins. So not a issue for me.

If your other email supports POP3 (which almost all do) then you can setup Gmail to download mail from that account periodically, and Gmail will push it to your phone. With labels you can essentially create an inbox for the other email account in Gmail, then use that label on your Android phone to setup applications and notifications.

I did this and love it, no more checking multiple email accounts.

If you want push email, but don't want to forward it to another email address, install K-9. (yes you can actually change your email client if you want with Android).

SkinnyPupp 07-06-2011 10:33 PM

I've never used it because all my email accounts use Gmail or Google Apps :) Even Revscene!

!MiKrofT 07-06-2011 11:50 PM

I use k9 for all my accounts. I just like it better than the stock app. Just wish it had a better scheduling feature on when to check emails.

No, totally different. Android phones are not in "jail" to begin with. They are designed to be flexible.

But for users who want even more access to things like overclocking or flashing roms, root access is necessary. It's basically there to protect the phone from being messed around with, whereas IPhone is put in prison so apple has full control over your phone, and knowledge of everything you do with it.

Except Hotmail. :( The type of push for Hotmail is not supported by K9.
