Yeah man, 15 seconds in the video (in the link I posted), you see a seal DIE.

There is absolutely a detrimental effect on sea life.
Don't forget, apex predators get the effect of the rest of the food chain below them.
Guess what, we are the apex predators.

Wanted to pick some up for mothers day but Granville Island wharf doesn't have them until may 12

sonick 05-13-2018 06:31 PM

So the season just opened. What crazy pricing is everyone seeing this year? I saw on FB somebody got em for $25/lb.

westopher 05-13-2018 06:40 PM

I got 5 lbs for free from one of our sales reps that picked em up in his boat that morning. Came with a bonus baby squid. The 2 I ate will probably be all I eat this spring. Not interested in overpaying, or waiting in line for them. Catch me with a 30lb halibut on the cutting board instead.

The T&T at 1st Ave was selling them for ~$27/lb a few days ago. Not entirely sure how much it is now

It's that time again!

Which place has the best price for spot prawns?

Traum 05-09-2019 01:38 PM

Been seeing them at $27.99/lb to $28.99/lb.

I think I will just go back to eating imported frozen shrimps. :(

Oh wait, I shouldn't:

Probably been half a decade since I bought spot prawns myself given how ridiculous prices are.

Speaking of imported shrimp/prawns, anybody know of good non-farmed shrimp/prawns? I remember in the grocery section Ikea stocks wild caught sustainable frozen shrimp.

edit: found it https://www.ikea.com/ca/en/p/sjoerap...ozen-10347859/

westopher 05-09-2019 04:19 PM

I gave up on spot prawns. Just paying 75% more a pound so you can tell people you got some.

Same here I haven't had Spot Prawns in 2 years now, it's just way too expensive.

winson604 05-12-2019 11:30 PM

$20/pound today and oh how I missed it.
