King crab is $70/lb at restaurants.

With Mother’s day coming this weekend, I think spot prawns will be $30/lb to start off the weekend.

They're $22 for pick up and $28 for delivery with a 10lb minimum.

Coldfish Seafood in Vancouver at East Kent Ave and Argyle St is at $24/lb. Just picked up some for Mother's Day lunch. Looking like they're 12-15 sized.
Nice having them so close, plus not hat many people know about them, so no crazy line ups.

Special K 05-08-2022 10:28 PM

Pre-ordered Sungiven on May 7 to pick up on May 8 at $22/lb for 3 lbs. Very well packaged but sizes varied.

Much better than driving around town searching for stock.

westopher 05-09-2022 05:55 AM

Spot prawns seem to be the only food item not hit by 400% increases because they were already so overpriced. Now they seem like a deal.

Mikoyan 05-09-2022 10:35 AM

Had good sizes with the 3lbs I bought. 10/11 per lb head on.

Traum 05-09-2022 11:22 AM

At $28/lb, I think the 5 prawns that I had this past weekend during Mother's Day dinner with my parents are the only ones I'm gonna eat this season. FailFish

whitev70r 05-09-2022 12:01 PM

Dead on the same day ones any cheaper? Say $17/18 lb?

That was T&T's price this past Sunday. I bought on Saturday at $24.99/lb, and that was pretty expensive.

Back in my early 30's, I'm pretty sure I can burn through 4 - 5 lbs of spot prawns all by myself. For better or for worse, I can no longer do that, so getting 10+ lbs is pretty much next to impossible lol~

Badhobz 05-17-2022 08:55 AM

i went down to that coldfish place on Kent ave and they were selling live for $24 per lb. the dude included the plastic tray he used to fish out the prawns on the scale and didnt have a scale display facing the customer. My parents said we should just leave but im like whatever, i dont feel like driving to T&T for a 1-2 dollar savings.

Bought 2 lbs, went home and weighed it on my kitchen scale... 1.7lbs.

SCAM. dont go to Coldfish

Same, I split 13 pounds with a friend the other day went home opened the box and was like fuck that's a lot of prawns took me a while to de head them all and while doing so probably ate like 20 sashimi style then proceeded to eat another 20 cooked, still had like probably 50 or 60 left east. By the time wifey came home from work I was in a food coma state already.

lilaznviper 05-17-2022 02:50 PM

$25.99 per lb at Metro T&T yesterday.
Mixed sizing. Bought 2 lbs and a lot of them were on the smaller side. YMMV
