This doesn't matter; no one is allowed to advertise without being a sponsor. RS needs to make the money to keep this site free for everyone and if people are allowed to make money off this site for free what's going to be the incentive to have sponsors sign up?

I remember there used to be a guy on RS that owned a seafood distribution business or smth
and I remember buying spot prawns directly off of that guy, and it was really good and he gave me a pretty good price too (cheaper than tnt for bigger and better prawns)

but I think he got banned from RS for selling prawns lol....

I contacted him a year or two ago and he said he was out of the seafood business.

It's a tough business being a wholesaler/distributor many open up and close down within 6months you really need to have deep pockets to purchase the seafood that's not even half the battle. You compete with other wholesaler to gain suppliers of live seafood. Then after that you need a reliable purchaser out of country that's trustworthy. Wholesalers that are still around are millionaires now if they started early in the 80s .

Thursday Canadian spot prawns will open expect a small dip in price on first day! Enjoy! Probably ate 15lbs with my fisherman buddies already ahahahah. Tofino has some pretty big ones this year

Not spot prawns but related, I heard on the radio this morning that Dungeness Crab is at an all-time high price right now (more expensive than lobster!) because they are all being shipped off to China

:fuuuuu:

Expresso 05-07-2014 07:37 AM

Man King Crab, now regular crab. Soon no seafood will be affordable cause everything will be shipped to China. Tell them to stick to their damn Hairy crabs!

saveth 05-07-2014 08:17 AM

I don't think I've ever bought crabs for at least 5 years. I've been recreationally catching them for a long ass time. If you have access to a boat, it becomes very easy to catch crabs. Lots of times my group limits out in an hour.

Jayboogz 05-07-2014 04:34 PM

Yeah this year is different that's for sure I am a crab fisherman and volume is low this year that's why so expensive. Crabs are down in Oregon rn. They migrate every few years.

saveth 05-08-2014 03:59 PM

I haven't been out crabbing yet this season but I will give it a shot in the next couple weeks.
