Uni. Cracked open while wiggling. Hard to top.
I want to eat it off a boat now.

Obsideon 06-22-2012 11:53 AM

^ ditto, super fresh and literally feels like it's not even the same food as the pre-packages. I personally did not like uni, but once I tried a live one right out of the shell I fell in love!

unit 09-18-2012 05:01 PM

ive been seeing spot prawns at t&t lately. whats the deal? where are they from?

Obsideon 09-19-2012 05:25 PM

It's usually available, just not in abundance so it's freakin' expensive compared to when in season.

unit 09-20-2012 04:05 PM

actually i saw it for the same price as when it was in season, about $13

Spectre_Cdn 09-20-2012 06:03 PM

wat! they were 19.99 when I was there last week :(

corollagtSr5 09-20-2012 11:02 PM

which one had it for 13?

blue_reverb 10-02-2012 01:11 PM

Normally it's 19.99 I think, $13 is awesome

sonick 05-08-2013 10:29 AM

It's that time again!

This year they're saying it's gonna be around $14/lb :okay:

westopher 05-08-2013 10:57 AM

Really? I heard 12 and that was even at granville island? Regardless, getting reasonably priced seafood in this city is a fucking joke.

Culverin 05-08-2013 11:37 AM

I'm doing a spot prawn night for a couple friends.
Can you guys update this thread when you find them cheaper?

Vale46Rossi 05-08-2013 12:52 PM

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT

SPOT PRAWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SOOOOO SOOOO SOOOO EXCITED :D

HonestTea 05-08-2013 01:19 PM

:D :D :D :D :D

When does the season officially start? Now?

sonick 05-08-2013 01:41 PM

There's a few places that have gotten them since last week or so, but expensive at like $18.99/lb.

This weekend is the annual Spot Prawn festival which kind of kicks off the entire season.

Jayboogz 05-08-2013 02:21 PM

pricing depends on quantity caught on the coast if it's expensive den there's a shortage.. Last year I remember buying from wholesale for 8bux a lb

unit 05-08-2013 02:25 PM

Jayboogz 05-08-2013 02:31 PM

I buy str8 from the wholesalers of seafood. When I sell my load of crabs they sell me a few lbs of prawns at cost as a favor =D. Ocean run seafood give them a call and ask of they will sell a few lbs to ya if they won't maybe try get a group buy Goin

I remember someone saying how TnT Spot Prawns were mostly caught in the US, anyone can confirm this? Either way that's not a bad price, I usually go down to Steveston Landing and buy them from the boats ... can't wait :D

Jayboogz 05-08-2013 05:38 PM

Bc spot prawns don't open till tmr so whatever your buying now is American, and ocean run seafood supplies Tnt. They have boats in Washington, and Oregon as well.

How are the prawns this year? It wasn't that great last year.

(jealous of you guys in Vancouver....I'm living in London now and so far removed from Vancouver's good food)

Slifer 05-11-2013 04:24 PM

What is the difference in terms of taste between spot prawns and normal prawns?
