I recently saw some luxury cars (Mercedes and BMW) with dash cams that were integrated quite well into the space between the rearview mirror and the windshield and, imo, appear to be factory options. Anyone aware of auto-makers including dash cams as options? |
Does anyone's BlackVue keeps repeating "Blackvue - for your safe driving" over and over randomly? Mine does that doesn't record properly, as if I'm missing segments in between. I tried pulling the power and restarting it but it's going the same thing over and over. |
^mb try reformating/upgrading firmware? i turned all the talking and stuff off, found it annoying. havent had any problems with mine really |

Chances are it might be one of many many 'camera'/'sensors' mounted on luxury cars now. For example...Mercedes have all those senors and technology that brakes for you if it sense you're too close to the car in front, etc. |
^^ are you sure they aren't just night vision cameras? |
Because car data system has limited bandwidth. All those cameras have on board processors (the majority is by a company called MobilEye) that already sensed / processed the video image data usually on sensor (since CMOS has plenty of silicon real estate). You can't just try to solder a video out line. The sensor on the location you talk about, could be night vision or just the rain/light sensor. Most new MY cars that are 50k would have more than 1 camera.. eg lane departure / blind spot sensors are just CMOS camera sensors. Quote:

You should put the camera on a bench top power supply or better, power the camera in car on from a separate battery power source to see if you can replicate the problem.. Chances are your wiring is loose and experiencing intermittent voltage drops, causing the camera to restart. It depends on the car, if your car's suspension is hard, I won't use wire taps.. Either find a power source you can screw down, or thermal wire strip a reliable power wire and solder a splice. Quote:

I have a GoPro but never mounted it. When I was in Europe last June I gave my buddy the camera to see how it would turn out, quality seemed fine. Now I just have to mount it on my car here (this thread shows that it could be an excellent idea). It snaps on and off, easy to use and is full HD. Here is the "test" video from when I drove through Wales. |

Although, one issue is when power or voltage drops, the blackvue should say "the blackvue is now shutting down." Instead, it seems like it keeps restarting so it doesn't seem like an interminent power issue. My suspension is pretty stiff as well so the power cable might be jumping around loose, but it's never lost power. |
took my car in for service the other day start at 1:20 |

That "BlackVue for your safe driving" gets annoying really fast, doesn't it? Mine started doing that the other day, so I checked the wiring which was ok. Then I deleted all of the recorded video/gps/voice recordings which didn't make any difference. What did work was going into the settings program with the BlackVue viewer installed and rewrote the settings onto the memory card. It's been working fine for the last couple of days. |

^ you could probably just delete it and go back into options to redo your settings. Also it makes sense that your BV doesnt shut off, probably because it loses power but regains it right away, like a skip from the power source. Maybe you should remove the splitter for your ipod and just plug the camera in alone. See if the problem still occurs. |

It seems that the unit doesn't have the capability of remembering your preferences so it read the memory card everytime it starts. Maybe a file on your memory card was corrupted and causes the problem. |
Anyone doing a GB via PM??? I would be interested in ordering 1. |
