I looked up the issue on google and a lot of people have figured out it might be an issue with the memory card being corrupt.

I'll take your advice and just leave the camera plugged in separately (boo radio) and see what happens. Otherwise I'll have to buy a new memory card.

Thanks for all the input guys :hotbaby:

^ you can try reformatting the card alone, plug into computer and reformat via MyComputer. Then it will be a fresh card and you can then put it into the BV so it can be formatted with all the files etc.

:lawl: you should email the clip to the manager and see what happens.

Which dealership was that? Land Rover of Richmond? Never knew that had those..."off-road" terrain at the back...

i leave voice confirmation on, that way i know when it starts recording without having to look at the led light.

What the fuck do you expect to happen? Nothing.

Anyway to turn off the gps light without having to turn off gps functionality on the Blackvue?

I would turn off the GPS functionality. Going to look bad if you're doing even 55 in 50 zones should you choose to use it as evidence.

That thing seems risky. It just drains your battery until it reaches what it thinks is a "safe" level or a certain number of hours. During colder days, it could make the difference between starting or not. I can't believe those $50 dash cams come with a built in battery while this one just has enough juice to power itself down LOL

Well every electric device drains the battery.. that's just what they are! The question is how long you will leave the car before the next car restart and how much the the extra the blackvue addition drains.

The general comment I have with these devices; no matter if they are for cameras or car-onboard computers eg ITX boards is they only take the cheap / mass production way out.. ie they test voltages only and don't measure amps.

These things usually works like this... they require you to wire a power supply and an ignition switched power source.. so that it can sense when the ignition is On/Off... When the ignition is off and voltage is under or about 11.2-5V.. it starts the timer to shutdown the power socket.

Another thing is it depends on your car.. If your car is a later model say 05+ where bluetooth, usb sockets etc are standard already... there is a good chance one of the power plugs already in the car will do a similar thing eg the USB jack or build in cellphone cradles. I know my newer cars' iphone cradles do voltage sensing to prevent power drain. So check your own car first, before you decide. You might be able to tap an existing powerline to the Blackvue for the same functionality.

folks with the blackvue. Has anyone been able to play their recordings with software other the the blackvue? It records in amp4 format but it wont play on the blackvue droid app or reg vid player

They are recorded in .mp4, typical format QuickTime will play back for you. You are also able to play it back on many other programs such as VLC. So you do not need the blackvue software to view your files. But without the program you will not get the maps/fancy information about your drive.

I tried the android app and in my case my HTC DesireZ cannot play back the 1080p video smoothly, it is very choppy. Therefore I don't even bother with that thing.

vlc works fine.

Dashcam Test - YouTube

Not bad. Got pics of the unit? You need to aim yours more to the passenger side!

Maybe some info popped up on one of those license plates of the cars in the left turn lane. So he was stopped to see if it was worth pulling the car over.

I got mine in Ap Liu street in SSP... if your friend knows where to get computer parts in HK he will know this place inside and out.

Otherwise, if you don't want to run the risk of getting ripped off go to MK.

I went home and remounted the thing... put it a bit more center.

from my view.

what it looks like... mounted in the stock bracket

skip to 1:20.....

TOS'd 02-28-2012 10:22 PM

Doesn't look like you can disable the gps light on the Blackvue. Because gps is always running to collect location and speed. Even if you select it to not display speed on your video file. All that info is stored in those other files with same title as the actual video file to be used within the blackvue software.

It's a good thing that grandpa took awhile to cross the street in this case, otherwise that Suzuki would've been destroyed...Was the other driver texting or something ? Must be blind not to see a red light...

Anything from Ap Liu street is available on dealextreme.com, you don't have to go to HK to get those things.. in fact you will find the same electronics' prices are inflated in HK due to their high rent for retail and storage space.
