Here is my blackvue mounted on a 8th gen civic. Unfortunately the civic wipers wipe inside out so you get a huge dirt spot and water build up right behind the rear view mirror.

I mounted it slightly to the left to avoid the dirt in the video and also a picture of the fuse box. There was a ton of unused slots so I used a couple of THESE to hard wire in the power magic. One goes to ACC and the other goes to constant 12V.

They almost won darwin awards for this stunt

^Good on you for pulling over, to be a witness I'm guessing? When I saw them running and cars coming by I was all like "BAMBAMBAMBAM!" :tears: just without the tears

1creator 06-08-2012 01:17 AM

I can't take the credit for it since it isn't my video, it's also from Ontario fwiw. But the OP from another forum said that he gave his info to both the driver and the girls before leaving the scene.

swfk 06-08-2012 01:19 AM

Still a good laugh tho lol

I did not expect them to bounce off the bumper like that, that's for sure.

A came across a similar scenario in burnaby. I was driving on grange street and slowed down to let some skater kids across the pedestrian crossing between Sussex and McKay. After they started to cross (some were skating across) and were about half way passed my car I noticed a car, a chevy blazer, in the left lane not slowing down so I started to honk like crazy. The kids stopped just about when they were passed my car and the blazer started to slow down but only came to a stop after the crossing. They all kept thanking me as they crossed and I was glad I didn't witness something like the above video or worse. After that, the guy in the blazer was crawling away at a really slow speed. My guess would be he was in shock over what nearly happened. I would have been showing all this instead of describing it but I had the camera plugged in but forgot my memory card.

Would have been real ugly

Class 4 is good enough, I use class 4 on my dash cam as well as my gopro, just make sure it's a quality class 4 i.e., Sandisk or Kingston ones, I bought a patriot before and it just broke on me after 3 uses. on top of that there are some cards that are infamous for not writing as fast as the designated class.

ok thankyou =)

Tested out my GoPro Hero2 tonight as a dashcam. I must say, the night vision on that thing absolutely sucks balls. Pretty sure I'd be better off mounting my Galaxy S to the windshield and using that as a night time camera. Oh well. It's just for insurance purposes in case someone blows through a stop sign or a red light. Even though it can't pick up licence plate numbers in the dark (faaaaar too much glare and waaaaay too much gain to boost the video), at least it'll show the basics as to what happened in case of an event.

Day Driving GS2000.

Using a class (10) Micro-SDHC, I could use (4) but it jitters every so often so it ended up back in my DV808 keychain cam :)

Caught this today just out of the Aldergrove city core on my drive home from the Interior. The driver of the Freestar hotly denied she did anything. Funny how she shut right up after I mentioned I had a dashcam (Hero2) that caught everything on video...

ICBC already called me and asked for a copy of the footage. Kinda curious how they'll rule who's at fault for this one...

Gopro2 is a terrible dash cam. Used it for a week. The battery doesn't last longer then 2 hours, the sound is aweful because of the case. No loop record. And it's three times as expensive as a basic dash camera. It's a great camera for other uses but it's not quality for a dash cam. The files are holy shit humongous too.

all other arguments aside, you could use the skeleton backdoor to solve the sound issue :)

+1

I never intended to use my Hero2 as a dash cam, but it simply happened over this weekend. The footage isn't that great (see my video above). If you get the open case, you can plug your camera in so it'll record for however long your SD card can handle. As for the file size, it's (more or less) a proper video camera shooting at full resolution. Of course they're gonna be big files... :p
