anyone got the Power Magic - Electric Power Controller with the blackvue?

I think it's kinda pointless since the blackvue only faces the front and all you can record is the front. If it was able to rotate to the driver side window or passenger side, or even inside the car, it would be useful.

That thing seems risky. It just drains your battery until it reaches what it thinks is a "safe" level or a certain number of hours. During colder days, it could make the difference between starting or not. I can't believe those $50 dash cams come with a built in battery while this one just has enough juice to power itself down LOL

I think the blackvue has enough battery to record even if it's not plugged in. Problem is, there is no button to power it on. Pretty sure there is a battery of some sort inside.

You can rotate the blackvue to show inside/theback of your car.

Also the blackvue apparently only holds enough power after the car is turn off to power itself down properly.

i hardwired a 3 hole cig port thing behind my glove box to have constant power, plug the dash cam to so it has constant power unless i unplug the actual camera.

forgot to unplug it when i got to work today. car still started up fine after it`s been running for 8hrs. don`t know how bad it is for the battery but it would be good for when you`re out shopping or something.

My recorder is acting kind of strange, for the first few times i connected it to the computer, a usb image showed up on the camera screen and I was able to access the memory card directly from "my computer." But on the third time plugging it in, the usb picture doesn't show up and the computer fails to locate a driver.

I downloaded a driver from a dealextreme user, and it opens up a new program to dl the files from the camera, but it's slow as fuck.
*correction found out that to read from card, you switch the camera to vga mode

CP.AR 03-06-2012 09:49 PM

here's mine at night... I left it at 720P instead of 1080 because frankly.. the increase in detail is minimal
Might want to turn off your speakers since there's this annoying click click click sound

and edit: wow youtube compression sucks bawls

Mine does that doesn't record properly, as if I'm missing segments in between.

I tried pulling the power and restarting it but it's going the same thing over and over.

Same thing here. Tried getting the firmware done & re-format the card. Same thing today keep saying for my safe driving. I had to unplug it coz it's quite annoying. I gotta play around with the setting a little more tomorrow. I have coilovers but very streetable ones so I don't think the coilovers are the cause. Hope it's not the unit or power supply cable.

Don't know what to tell you! It worked fine on my comp and it even works on my iPhone! Try a different comp or I could upload it for you as a last effort!

My blackvue did that safe driving restarting message as well. My cigarette lighter plug was loose.

pop-up/ad blocker causing the link to not work maybe?

Took a test video today on the drive to work, quality is decent. Audio is complete crap but I guess it doesn't really matter. Anyone having skipping issues with this camera (you can see it in the vid every few secs). I'm using a class 4 SD card, could this be the problem?

I don't think it's the memory card, most sample videos I've seen have that problem, which is why I didn't go with it. The video looks alright apart from that though, considering the price of the unit.

Lol I have a spare sitting around BNIB if anyone wants to buy it off me without having to wait. The daytime video on it is good enough but at night it's pretty useless, I guess you can make out shapes... I like the suction cup mount on this better than the other cheap ebay ones though

I got the same exact one.
They keep shutting off randomly while the power is still on. I have to keep resetting it to keep them running. Quite annoying. The seller and I tried every possible ways to fix that problem but we couldnt figure it out. It never happened to him and other buyers. Maybe it's just bad luck for me.

yeah Youtube compression sucks. Vimeo is a bit better.

pawdregry4g 03-07-2012 11:37 PM

This is my test video of the same dvr recorder, the quality is abysmal though. Anyone know why?

godwin 03-08-2012 01:08 AM

Check your firmware and settings by looking at the crispness of your date/time vs the one above.. it looks like you are recording at a lower resolution.

Try this.. borrow someone's car battery.. hook up your camera and tie it in to the battery (leave the battery in the passenger seat etc).. Do a normal drive, if the camera still powers out, it is the camera's fault... else it is likely to be your wiring.

Reposting from Shitty/Dangerous Drivers thread in Spotted.

There is just so much wrong with what happened that it really requires a second look.

The first time, you think it's going to be another car. Then you realize it isn't the one running the stale yellow but the one that guns it at a red.

Then you watch it the second time and see this very same car slow down and almost come to a complete stop for the yellow and when the light turns red, you notice she is still behind the line. Then half a second later, decides to gun it on a red.

Win.

pawdregry4g 03-08-2012 11:17 AM

Emailed the seller the video, he says it looks like theres a defect with the camera and to return it back to him in china...

Gh0stRider 03-08-2012 11:46 AM
