Well
I saw that post.

If you see here
dashboard camera | eBay
A lot looks like that, yet the specs differ between some of them. Therefore, I asked the question.

blackvue dr400 II is out.

Major difference between DR400G-HD & DR400G -HD II :

1) Much improved /Sharper mega pixel lens
2) Improved recording time
(Higher compression technology)
3) Upgraded design and better cooling

mr_chin 09-07-2012 09:34 PM

anyone have the power magic pro for the blackvue?

or something similar to keep cameras rolling while car is off?

by converting ac to dc (or the other way around, can't remember), it'll never drain the battery? or does it still drain until it reach the timer/voltage you set?

inv4zn 09-07-2012 10:31 PM

It has nothing to do with ac and dc...lol it's all dc.

What it does it monitors the car battery voltage, and if it drops below a set level, it'll turn off the camera so no more current is drawn. Power is being used until the timer/voltage is set.

When you modify files, doesn't it get recorded?

That's pretty good, seeing as the first group by for ver.1 was ~$200 shipped from ebay. And this is the improved version. Unless they dropped the starting price on the newer units.

LP700-4 09-13-2012 01:33 PM

Do you have to pay tax/duty if you buy on ebay and get it shipped here?

It's up to customs to decide. Technically you should be paying. What I found is that if it goes through Canada Post, they are more lenient vs courier.

inv4zn 09-13-2012 10:07 PM

^whatever you do, stay the fuck away from UPS.

They wanted $60 duty + brokerage fees for a $35 HID kit. If from the US, ask seller to ship by USPS. If from abroad, ask for EMS.

asr 09-14-2012 10:19 AM

^Agree, Stay xxxx away with UPS or DHL. Always charged the clearance brokeage fees.

You need to pay extra for the warranty on ebay, it worth the money tho. So pretty much about $230 not including duty, tax and clearance fee (at least $50 more).
If you are lucky, you can pass.

TOS'd 09-14-2012 10:34 AM

What are some typical warranty claims you have dealt with? I bought mine from eBay and haven't had to claim anything.

jing 09-14-2012 11:11 AM

Me neither. Only real issue I had was with the pos samsung 16gb card it came with but that was easily remedied with a trip to the store and some pocket change

IF you have to ship through UPS or some other courier that charges high brokerage fees, call them before the package arrives in Canada and tell them that you want to clear it yourself. They'll drop it off at a customs office and you can go there to deal with clearing it; this way you won't have to pay their brokerage fees. Duties and taxes still stand.

LP700-4 09-14-2012 03:45 PM

Asked the seller and he said he uses EMS so thats good news.

Hmmm pull the trigger or not :concentrate:

From what I know the dr400g-hd II can't be converted to the english software yet as there is no english software right now. I wonder if they patched up the config file trick.

Nvasion 09-14-2012 09:06 PM

how about this one?

when i got my dr400g, i didn't have to pay any fees because it was sent with ems.

only problem i had with the dr400g was the sd card. occasionally, the blackvue will say "check the sd card". it's probably something to do with bad sectors or w/e.

all i had to do was use sd formatter and format it with all the boxes ticked (can't remember what they were called).

been using the dr400g now for 1.5 years, and it's still running. planning on getting the second version for my back windshield facing the inside of my car and using power magic pro on it. hopefully it capture the side of my car.

ForbiddenX 09-15-2012 08:41 AM

Anyone know where I can get an extra power cable or a hard wire cable for the DR400G?
