No love for dumbbell rows? That exercise alone probably accounts for 60% of my back development in both width and thickness.

I'd also throw in some rear delt flyes, face pulls or an exercise of some sort that hits the rear delts on your shoulder days.

I'd take out the seated cable row and replace that with a one arm dumbell row. Get way more back recruitment plus more core involvement with it.

Or you could always do one armed seated row.:D

I started doing those when my lower back was acting up and it was too hard to do 1 arm db rows... I liked them a lot.

can't do 1 arm dumbbell row correctly, instruction video please?

alwayslive 04-15-2013 10:17 AM

just try to not ego lift cause you end up using your bicep and try to squeeze the hell out your back as you're doing them

J.C 04-15-2013 10:28 AM

sweet thanks guys

Whats more pissing then when someone jacks your equipment and then you tell him youre still using it but they still take it because "you're resting, so that means you're not using it." Fucking egos in the gym.

End rant

I almost never step away from my equipment. If someone wants to work in with me they can go ahead, but I'm going to be standing there right next to them watching. Of course I go about it being friendly with a big smile on my face. That way I make them feel even more uncomfortable. :troll:

Sid Vicious 04-15-2013 12:56 PM

never ever have i had to deal with that type of shit at my gym...or any problems really

J.C 04-15-2013 01:01 PM

+1 never really had any problems
just the rare small ones every now and then

Personally I like to do it at the rack (holding a dumbbell or rack for support), with a staggered stance. I feel I have a greater ROM at the bottom for the stretch, and to really squeeze at the top with a slight supination at the end without your leg getting in the way.

Just focus on bringing your elbows behind your back. I have minimal bicep activation during my workout with this in mind.

This use to be a problem for me, but now I just do front lat spread when they try to take my shit and that usually scares them off.

dmak4 04-15-2013 02:36 PM

I always just leave a towel or bottle by the equipment I'm using, people for the most part get that it's still in use.

Only thing I hate is when people decide to work out in groups and end up taking several spots sitting there talking... Does a couple reps after I ask and see them just crowding around chatting again moments after.

for some strange reason, I only don't have the mind muscle connection when doing one arm dumbbell row, maybe this exercise isn't for me. Also tried the one where you set an incline bench, and lying on it doing a row. Lying dumbbell row?

Stealthy 04-15-2013 04:17 PM

People using clamps... on a smith machine...

I don't even.

Try thinking in your mind that you're only trying to bring your elbows behind your back. That usually helps with people in my gym lol

hal0g0dv2 04-15-2013 08:26 PM
