L0uie69 04-01-2013 06:32 PM

Vid from earlier todays max session. Able to hit a 45lb PR today. I think i had a bit left in me, 455 felt a lot easier than 445 did.

And shout out to GfitTrain for the spot and helping me record!

Awesome squats and a crazy PR man!

It was nice meeting you today at SC Fcukedd! We should definitely do an RS meet there sometime this month, haha.

Fcukedd 04-01-2013 09:57 PM

Nice meeting both you and Instant! Yeah I agree. Lets arrange a day where we can all go for a night workout, it would be fun :fullofwin:

I'm actually considering buying them but I'm hesitant unless I can find a good deal on them.

truth 04-01-2013 11:08 PM

attempted 100lb DB press today, only got one clean rep out -was aiming for 3, but didn't have enough in the tank. thanks to wuuhoo for the spot!

Fcukedd 04-01-2013 11:33 PM

Nice man. The hardest part about dumbbells IMO is attempting it. Now that you have a feel for it, I'm sure you'll rep it the next time you try!

hud 91gt 04-02-2013 11:11 AM

chin3se604 04-02-2013 06:06 PM

body collapsed today while doing deads :( . There's now a slight pain/soreness whenever I bend. Is there any stretches I can do to relieve the pain/soreness ? or any foam roller exercises ?

thanks

I assume you are talking about pain in your lower back? If so I think the best thing you can do right now is to avoid flexion. Do not stretch and do not bend at your lower back. Stretching may give you temporary relief but is counterproductive. If you sit for long periods, make sure your back is in as neutral of a position as possible.

Deloading it regularly would help too. Eg. hang from a bar or put your hands on a chair and lift your butt off the chair so there is no load on your spine. Do that for just a few seconds at a time, but multiple times a day.

That's just my 2 cents though, I'm sure some of the kin students in here can give you better advice.

The urethane U90 is definitely what I want. Looked at fitness depot prices and it's gonna cost $654+tax to get up to 90 lbs :(
$1032+tax if I expand to 125lbs

compared to 884+tax for the Sport 9.0 @ 130lbs.

anyone have hookups lol

Not trying to be a dick, but why not join a gym, save money and have access to real equipment?

broken_arrow 04-02-2013 07:04 PM

Was sitting and studying on a hard surface today for an hour. Got up and got severe sciatica pain shooting down my legs. Barely made it to my car. I can barely walk and when I do its all hunched and crooked.... Hurts to sneeze, cough... Don't know what to do.:okay:

nothing beats going to the gym

I had bad sciatica. Went away once I got orthotics, stretched my piriformis and also used a lacross ball on the piriformis. See if that helps

Setting up my home gym was the absolute best decision I have made in 2013 (lol).

Power rack + 350 lbs in plates + olympic barbell = ~$700 after everything.
I already have a bench and some dumbbells (50lbs) that I got for about $90 a couple years back so in total my setup cost around $800.

The power rack allows me to do squats, deadlifts, bench press (using the pins/safety bars and my bench--works amazing) and weighted pullups.
I can also do rows, curls, good mornings, calf raises, skull crushers, and a plethora of other exercises you can typically do with just a barbell, dumbbell, and plates.

I've looked at gym memberships in the past and they were on average about $50/month. Depending on where the gym is located, you could be easily spending an additional $20-30/month on gas alone driving there and back 3-4x a week. After accounting for this I pretty much make back my investment after one year, sooner if you factor in one of the most important savings a home gym can provide: time. I used to workout at a community centre and the total time spent driving there and back was 40 minutes on a good day. Assuming I get home from work at 6, that means it's almost 8 by the time I get back (again, on a good day). Now, I simply walk to my garage, do my thing, and am usually back in time before the hockey game starts at 7.

Of course, if I were to get the powerblock or get more plates as I progress, things will be different costwise, but looking long term you still come out ahead if you invest in a home gym. Of course, if you don't have the space for a home gym then you don't really have a choice.

Just my opinion.
