Hey everyone. Had a quick question about knee sleeves. From what I gather, Rehband sleeves are used by the majority of powerlifters and strength athletes. I am looking at Tommy Kono sleeves as they are significantly cheaper and I can get them locally/fast (Fitness Town carries them).

Any of you tried TK sleeves?

those TK sleeves are 100% legit, dont hesitate to buy em. btw which fitness town has em? might pick em up myself. rehbands are just wayyy too expensive at 40 each.

knee sleeves dont give much of any support fyi

Thanks man! I just want them for compression and warmth. I will swing buy the Kitsilano FT tomorrow and see if they still have them. I remember they had them last time I went there (3 weeks or so ago). I will let you know!

romanian deads (just started doing this) : 135lbs with 5x5

Pricesmart is selling a 2L carton of UFC Coconut water for 2 bucks. I'm not entirely sure of the research behind coconut water rehydrating you faster (I just like the refreshing nature of the coconut).

Thoughts?

Edit:

After the fact, did some more reading and knew that the claims aren't backed - Prob best to just keep drinking water, instead of wasting money on coconut water.

I'm a big believer in sipping coconut water during workout. some fast carbs and lots of potassium that will help prevent cramps and also gives u some extra energy in the gym. I haven't tried the UFC one, but check the ingredients, make sure it's 100% coconut water. Don't buy blue monkey it's a rip off a 500ml bottle is like $2.5. I buy this brand called Paradise brand 1L from where I work is $2.4. Last time I went to T&T they had it on sale 2 for $5. It's so far the best bang for your buck 100% coconut water I can find on the market. Hope this helps.

Edit: I checked the nutritional label, it should have 60 calories, 16 carbs and around 500mg of potassium per 250ml. I usually take 500ml with me to the gym per session

sonick 02-19-2013 01:51 PM

UFC is 100% Coconut Water.

Pricesmart also has a new brand of 100% coconut water in cans; if you buy a case it's the cheapest available there.

Yeahh finally came back after a year. Lovin it. Been back since November. I've probably only seen you once or twice leaving the gym lol.

instantneedles 02-19-2013 04:05 PM

for you hardcore lifters out there with chains, did you get them from weightlifting stores or from your local hardware store? If so, what size did you get?

broken_arrow 02-19-2013 04:26 PM

For those who are interested (Sid, jc95, instant), Fitness Town @ Kitsilano has TK sleeves in stock. I bought a pair today, $59.95 as per website.

guys, on a cut, what is the recommended weight loss per week for minimum muscle loss? Is it 1-2 pounds per week? And if it's more than that, I should up my calories right?

I always though that you should aim for a pound a week. That way you decrease muscular catabolism..

Thanks to the guys who recommended me to eat maintenance. But I still want to see how I look when I drop a few pounds or maybe 10. 135 pounds is lowest I will go.

Judging from the pictures you posted a couple pages back, I don't think you've gained enough muscle to cut. You are already a slim guy, so stripping 10lbs would do you more harm than good, especially at a low body weight.

I've been training for two years now, and gained a total of 42-45lbs. The thought of cutting has never even crossed my mind.

is350 02-19-2013 07:13 PM

you just need to gym

hal0g0dv2 02-19-2013 07:24 PM

you just need to workout properly and have a good solid diet

there is no reason to bulk or cut, focus on actually working out properly

and for the 1234352345294568459254234 times "cutting" is so over rated and most peoples view on cutting is getting a 6 pack You need to fill your frame out and get some solid muscle before anything

lift some shit over your head do some dead lifts do some solid compound movements.

truthhhhh

bmwx1 don't go on a cut, itll be the best decision you ever make. Stick to maintenance calories, (ie. what you eat right now or even a little bit more) and just continue to up your weights week by week. If you do this, and stick to it, and look in the mirror in 2-3 months, you will see an entirely different guy.

If you cut, you are going to drop your calories and risk losing any muscle mass you have on right now..

The saying "lift big eat big"

but really it's up to you, try out the cut and see if it works and go from there

I will check out their coconut water as well. If it's even cheaper, I will grab from pricesmart then.
